Resident 2015

7/27/2015

I currently live at these apartments and there's no doubt, they have a bug problem. I've only been here for one month and I'm already about to break my lease. Before I signed the lease I was already hesitant because they will not show you a vacant apartment until after you've signed a lease. That should have been the first alarm that went off for me but I was pretty desperate because I had just moved from another state. The leasing agents are nice, I haven't really ever had a problem with them. However, I had heard that the assistant manager is the WORST, hanging up on people, yelling at people, and the property manager just changed and apparently the new guy knows nothing. So, after I moved in I thought everything was fine, I saw little bugs here and there which was normal because it had been vacant for a while. I didn't think much of it until the first morning I woke up these little brown spiders "hiding" if that's what you want to call it, in between the wall and the carpet in my living and dining room. I saw these EVERY DAY until I brought some spray from Lowes. Within the first week or so I told one of the leasing agents about it and she told me it was happening because of the heat (it was about 100 degrees for two weeks). To add to the little spider issue, I found two centipedes. One hiding between my bed and the wall and another underneath it. Then I saw a GIANT water bug in the middle of my bedroom floor. And then I basically lost it when I saw roaches start coming out of my laundry room (which is in the bedroom) and bathroom. I couldn't believe it. My rent is over $800 for a one bedroom. I should NOT have roaches coming out of ANYTHING in my apartment. PERIOD. This kind of thing went on for about 3-4 weeks until I was so fed up I started asking my neighbors if they were having issues. LOW AND BEHOLD, THEY WERE. Almost everybody in my building has been having problems and is sick of it. I've even asked people who don't live in my building if they've had problems and they've ALL said yes. Not everyone has had roaches. Some have had spider issues, fire ant issues, and others have roaches coming out of their freakin sink!! I haven't really had any bug issues in the day time, but once night falls forget it. They come out and that's the worst because you're trying to go to sleep and all you can think about is something crawling into your bed in the night. I didn't sleep for the first few weeks after I moved in because I was so paranoid and would be so tired in the morning I could barely function at my new job. I hate to break my lease but that just seems like a no brainer no that I've had and have heard other people having so many problems not only with bugs but with the office and maintenance too. I could write a lot more from people who I've heard from but I think this gets the main point across. Some people may think this is tolerable but it's not for me. I have family who live all over Charlotte, some in not so nice areas and NO ONE has ever had bug issues like I've had here. This is a great area to be in but this apartment complex needs to get it together. They need to treat the grounds THOROUGHLY with boric acid or whatever that stuff is that they use for roaches and spiders. Or just shut it down period.
