Pros: Great downtown location (walk or bicycle to everything). Good price for the location. Has own parking lot with assigned space. Hardwood floors, high ceilings, big windows, crown molding, thick plaster walls. Brand-new efficient central AC/heatpump. Large bathroom (considering the age of the place) with nice ceramic tub. Lots of kitchen cabinets. Big living rooms. Upper floors have fire-escapes. Recently renovated...and beautifully I might add! Cons: Renovations didn't include better electrical (most are still 2-pronged outlets--buy some adapters). No dishwasher. Tiny closets. Narrow hallway makes it quite difficult to move large furniture (sofas, etc) into other rooms. Old construction...you can occasionally hear upstairs walking, etc. Oh, and a few of the neighbors are somewhat litterbugs...but I guess that's not the management's fault. But hey...given all these, I think this was the right decision for me. My time was happy here, it's a good community. Like I said the renovations were beautifully done and I love the retro feel of the place. And the management/upkeep of the place is for the most part very well done (though you may have to call again to remind them of things you've asked to be fixed). And for a young single urban professional, the location is one of the best in the city. If someone told me they needed to find a good apartment downtown, I'd tell them to look at Boylan first...except for the ridiculously overpriced newer "luxury" places, this is probably the nicest.
