Resident 2016 - 2018

Extremely disappointed. Oak City Apartments was my home for 2 years and I would have considered staying if there were an actual justification for rent going up, but there wasn't. I also grew tired of paying a ridiculous amount of rent for dated appliances. Not I must mention I am in no way a problematic tenant and my rent was always on time - paid in full. Even though I had EVERY reason to complain, I didn't. From the ridiculous amounts of bugs, to my rent payment being "lost," to the piss poor job they did on my door when they "fixed" the stairs, the fact they never fixed my fridge after I asked them to 4 times because it was making an awful noise, to the fact they never laid the carpet back down in my bedroom when the water heater burst, the fact there were no improvements and the appliances are old, but I didn't complain! But the straw that broke the camel's back was the itemized list of "fees" taken out of my security deposit when I left. When I left I asked the property manager clear as day what needed to be done when leaving. She just told me to make sure I cleaned "like my parents were coming into town" and made like it was no big deal. I clean the hell out of that apartment and it just needed a few touch ups due to normal wear and tear. After 29 days I get an itemized list of charges including a "broken" refrigerator arm, carpet stains, pet fee and a water balance. I asked on MULTIPLE occasions for them to come and fix my refrigerator that was making an awful noise. Instead I would get notes saying they "looked at it" and a diagnostic of the problem yet it was never fixed. Also, if you look at the photo of the fridge do you see a "broken arm?" Why am I being faulted for something I didn't see and for a fridge that needed to be replaced anyway? Also, I told them on numerous occasions that I was dog sitting so if there was a fee, why would they not tell me it would either come out of my security deposit or needed to be added to my rent? That way I could have made the necessary adjustments, but no they decided to take the money out on their own without ANY discussion and on an assumption. When the water heater burst, I asked on multiple occasions if they were going to lay the carpet back down from pulling it up from the water damage. I was told yes and the job was half---- mainly because I was moving out. They never put the carpet back down in my bed room. So to charge me for shampooing a carpet that has water damage because of a stain???? How does this make sense? The carpet should be pulled up anyway because there was water damage in the bedroom and living room AND how do you charge someone for normal wear and tear? The carpet is the landlord's responsibility. When I asked about the so-called "stain" their answer didn't even make sense. Finally due to the water heater issue, I'm not even sure if I was prorated because there was NO final bill for the water. So I basically paid for water that I never used. But then I guess I should expect this coming from a property ran by a bunch of kids who lose rent payments. Oh yes they lost one of my rent payments and tried to blame it on me saying I did not pay until I showed receipts that I had. Who misplaces rent payments? And if you're wondering about the "good ratings" there is a sign asking the tenets to give them a good rating in exchange for incentive. Don't be fool.DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT move here!
