Resident 2013

3/14/2013

I have lived at the Keys for 8 months and at first it seemed like an ideal living space. I loved the newly renovated apartment. The biggest problem was the customer service and the maintenance men. My first problem occurred with the dishwasher (which was brand new). The dispenser cup was not opening, so I reported the problem trying to save them the hassle since it should still be under warranty. When maintenance came to look at it, the blamed it on my choice of detergent (the packets, not the liquid). Trying to be compromising, we switched to the liquid. It still would not open up, so I reported it again. It took the 5 times of reporting it, and I never heard back from them. Finally after going to the office I found out that they were waiting on GE to send out a piece to fix the item. The second item was the hardwood floors that were brand new were starting to separate. The maintenance men lied to my roommate when they stated that all that needed to be done was to use the hammer like tool that locks them into place. The men said these floors didnt require this tool. Again after weeks and multiple requests, and a concerned email, they finally decided to fix it. (Which they have started to separate again). *Due to the problems they offered to get me a gift certificate to a restaurant. When I called and informed them of the restaurant, not only did the person scoff at my choice, they have yet to give it to me. I then complained of mold that was growing both in the bathroom due to poor construction and also in the windowsills. I was told by the office that it was the tenants poor living conditions. This is said to someone who cleans their apartment on a weekly if not bi-weekly schedule. The walls are starting to crack and mold is continuing to grow in the windows. The office explained that there was nothing they could do, it was poor construction. When requested to be allowed out of the lease, they informed me that I would have to pay either contract break fee as stated in lease. Since I do not have a choice, I am waiting out my contract, unless I can find a way out, and then I am moving. I would not recommend this apartment complex to anyone. Although the appearance is attractive, the management is rude, inconsiderate and insulting. The construction of the buildings are extremely poor, especially for the particular price I am paying for my apartment. *I also know for a fact that another tenant in this complex moved into their apartment in September and complained of a hole in their spare bathroom that is still yet to be fixed.
