Lived in the L&R building. STAY away. This office is terrible. The manager is a real piece of work. Building is old and getting run down because of poor maintenance. I can hear neighbors conversations clear as day. Office doesn't respond to issues for months. Rude. Careless. No work ethic. STAY AWAY! Apartments not worth the money, although, great location.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. This property is managed by Goldmark property management and these people are evil. The office manager has no respect for the tenants. She treats her current and departing tenants like they are animals. She is the most ill-mannered I have ever met in a managerial position. I'd say she was raised to work at Goldmark.. They will charge you an arm and a leg in cleaning charges and painting charges even if you leave the apartment spotless while checking out. Don't even think about getting your deposit back. You'd be lucky if you don't get a bill from them accompanied with a threat for legal action if you don't pay. Their notice also indicates that they can take legal action to make you pay even if you dispute the charges. They use their corporate power to charge you with unwarranted cleaning charges and there's nothing you can do about it!

This apartment has been a total nightmare. The place is full of Somalians that talk so loud I can hear them on the sidewalk into my bedroom on the 3rd floor! You can hear them through the walls too. Kids run around the hallways like it's their personal playground, sketchy people walk around at night and break the back window of cars. Mine has been one of them. We got a garage and it locked my car inside. It took them a whole month to finally fix it. They found out the reason why it was broken was because someone had tried to break into it! People climb up the balconies to get into the apartments. People will go to your door and try to open it, I have had this happen so many times. You have to be in fear at all times because you never know when you might forget to lock your door and someone will walk right in. Maintenance is not very skilled. They make more problems by the time they leave. I want to get out of this place as fast as possible! I will never look back and ever want to live here again!

VERY BAD, UNPROFESSIONAL MANAGEMENT, THEY ARE TRICKSTERS. TRUST THE REVIEWS

STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE!!! THEY WILL NOT GET FAR WITH THIS TYPE OF CONNIVING ACTS. I AM TRYING TO RELOCATE TO FARGO, ND FROM MIAMI, FL. I STATED MY DATE LINE WHEN I NEEDED TO MOVE IN THE APARTMENT. ALSO, THAT I HAVE 2 KIDS AND MY THINGS ARE IN A STORAGE. I PAYED $250 DEPOSIT AND $30 APPLICATION FEE AS THEY REQUESTED. THEY SENT ME A LEASE TO SIGN AND DATE. THEY EXPLAINED AS SOON AS THE LEASE WAS RETURNED SIGNED(SAME DAY)IT WOULD TAKE 2 DAYS TO PROCESS. I THEN BEGAN TO PLAN THE 2 DAY TRIP. I FOUND IT ODD THAT I DIDN'T HAVE TO DO THE APPLICATION. I STATED BECAUSE THE WEEKEND WAS APROACHING THAT I WOULD BE ON MY WAY AND WAS CONCERNED I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO RECIEVE MY KEYS TO THE APARTMENT DUE TO THEIR HOURS OF OPERATION. THEY ASSURED ME THAT THEY WOULD BE OPEN SAT AND SUN. ON SAT BEFORE LEAVING, I DECIDED TO CALL THEM BECAUSE I NOTICED THAT MY LEASE WAS NOT SIGNED BY THEM. I NEEDED A GUARENTEE THAT I HAD A HOME WHEN I ARRIVED. THEY THEN TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED TO DO AN APPLICATION.… See More>

          Awful service from Management.

While stains on the carpet, broken lights, and crappy appliances are a nuisance; It's the lack of caring about these problems from the management that is the main problem with Maplewood Bend. We have had maintenance out on a couple occasions to fix the lights and our window which won't open. It seems they simply show up, figure out what's wrong, but then never actually come back again to fix it. The walls are pretty thin, when you can hear your neighbors doing the dishes it's pretty easy to figure that out. This works both ways as I'm always wondering if I'm disturbing my neighbors with my actions. Most of the people that live here though are nice people. Now for the management. They have trouble remembering renters, I understand that they see lots of people everyday, but it's the same people over and over again. You'd think they would at least learn names. They also have this nasty habit of not giving you any heads up about projects/construction occurring. This being the final straw this morning when I was woken up at 9am by them buzzing my apartment repeatedly. It's as if they knew we were obviously still in bed and… See More>

Worst Place Ever to Rent From!!!

The management is by far the worst people I've ever encountered! They try ripping you off continuously. They tried to say I had a late payment and wouldn't accept the check I put in the mailbox a day late and gave me a massive late fee. I had to write another check out for that month and then they deposited both checks! Basically, I got charged $1000 for one month because they deposited the previous check they said they couldn't accept in addition to the new check they made me write! They are not friendly, the location is in the most run down location of Fargo, there is no security entrance, people are loud and banging on the floor, the parking lot is messed up, the washer and dryer are always out of order and it takes them forever to get them fixed, etc. etc... I could go on all day! Stay Away from this place or any other place they own! It's just a nightmare! I'm putting in my one month notice at the beginning of the month and getting the hell out of here!

              worst place ever

I lived here on a 12 month lease. Management tricked me into having a 14 month lease by losing my 60 move out notice. They then decided to try and evict me and gave me 2 late fees in the same month 10 days before my move out date. They told me to be out that night which is highly illegal. I am taking them to court and will win. Management is very poor and uncaring. Maintenance is terrible and nothing in the aparment works. There are NO good qualities about living here. If u want to get robbed beaten or shot go ahead. U live right next to every drug dealer in town not to mention the verbal abuse by neighbors and almost every neighbor beating their kids. I will be calling the police and courthouse when I'm done typing this and I hope to god they have a good lawyer because they are screwed if they thibk they'll win.

                TERRIBLE PLACE

This apartment is terrible. We are renting a 3 bedroom and will be moving out at the end of the month. We have a washer and dryer in our unit. The day we moved in we found out the dryer didn't work so we called maintenance and they said they'd be right up to fix it. 2 weeks later we had to call them again because they still hadn't been up to fix it. Another week later they finally came. only one burner on the stove works and its been that way since we have moved in and no one has come to fix it. Its not even the big burner that works but one of the small ones. Our dishwasher NEVER gets the dishes clean. It leaves black gunk on every dish. We have to run the same load of dishes thru about 3 times and then we just give up and do the dishes ourselves. We can constantly hear our neighbors screaming at their kids and have had to call the cops to reeport them abusing the kids more than once. We can hear every word. The same neighbors also throw parties every single night and though we… See More>

                  Decent Place to Live

I thought I would go on here to write a review, as I lived at this community for over 3 years, and really had no problems or issues that weren't addressed. It seems as though everyone likes to write a bad review and complain when they are upset but they won't in return write a good review when they are pleased. Although the office occasionally were delayed in repairing things, they were definitely not completely incompetent as many reviews below would lead one to believe. I even recall it was snowing and blowing very badly and my car became stuck on the city street, the office staff and maintenance came out to help me dig my car out. As far as noise goes, I think everyone has a different tolerance to noise, and honestly you rent an apartment and so you really should understand that with that you have to expect some noise. My apartment was a little older, but for the price and comparing them to other apartments that I looked at before renting, this was the best deal I found and was very satisified. The only reason I moved, is that I… See More>

These are apartments I would NEVER recommend. The neighbors to the north would open their hallway door to smoke so that the smoke would come out into the hall and I asked the staff numerous times to fix this and nothing ever happend and the hallway would always smell like a smokey bar. In addition, instead of sheetrock walls, you might as well have a bed sheet because it probably would have blocked more noise. Everytime the couple next to me would fight or have sex, I heard everything. Plus, the layout was terrible, my living room was against my other neighbor's bedroom so when I want to watch TV at night on a normal volume setting, it keeps them awake. So, if you want an apartment with a do-nothing staff, and you enjoy hearing your neighbors and you don't mind them hearing you, this is your place.

                        It seems good upfront...

This apartment seemed good upfront, to the point that I signed a lease. At first they were friendly, but as time progressed, it became obvious that new customers were their priority, and that locked leaseholders were not. I waited eleven months for a parking spot that never came although I was "top on the list." I got charged extra money, after move-out was complete. I got walked in on by management a handful of times because they wanted to show my apartment. If you don't want privacy, you don't mind hidden costs, and you haven't ever been a fan of service, sign here.

                          STAY AWAY

I lived in this community for about two years. The staff is friendly, but pretty much useless when it comes to gettting something fixed. The apartments are old and falling apart. The staff claimed the apartment was clean when I first moved in, but there was an inch thick pile of dirt and gunk under the fridge and the master bedroom had stains on the walls and carpet. Walls are paper thin. I could hear word for word what my neighbors were saying. The bathrooms share the same wall, so I could also hear my neighbor showering or releaving themselves. Around Christmas time, someone had vommited in the stairway of our building. The vomit stayed there for a month. The washer and dryers have never worked properly on any floor of my building. Cops are constantly patrolling this area, which they should. The building doors are left propped open frequently, because maplewood bend allows 8 people to live in a two bedroom apartment, and strangers from the street are constantly hanging around/in the building. Please do not rent from here. Especially if you are young and female,… See More>

First of all I was lied to when I moved in here. They had told me that I would receive a garage free of charge with my rent, only to find out later that it was $35 a month. When I agreed to pay the extra money for the garage, they told me that I could take the garage off my lease any time. I recently visited the leasing office to find out that that was also a lie. I am stuck with it until the end of my lease. The garages are crap and I noticed my naighbors had a dog living in theirs during the winter, which didn't seem so bad until I found out that the people that were using the garage weren't even the people paying for it (I'm assuming they were previous residents that still had keys). Inside the building the "controlled access" I pay for each month is no more than a joke considering that 40% of the time there's a rug in place of the door propping it open. almost all of my naighbors are foreigners dumped here by Lutheran Social Services that don't know how to speak the language and play their… See More>

DON'T LIVE HERE! There was blood spatters everywhere! On my closet door, bedroom door, my roommates closet and bedroom door, on the ceiling, above the fridge, on the KITCHEN CABINETS, floor boards in the living room, on the bathroom door, there was also pee in a closet (I'm assuming cat for the way it smelled). The rude staff claimed to "clean" it but the only thing that was partially cleaned was the pee in the closet, the blood was still on everything. We moved our stuff in for a grand total of 2 months, we never lived there because of the biohazardous condition, and we still have to steam clean the carpets that never looked like they were cleaned when we moved our stuff in! On top of all of that there was always creepy people everywhere, I never felt safe.

If you are looking for a good place to live in the Fargo area please do not choose Maplewood bend apartments. I guess if you like having your rent raised by an insane amount and get nothing in return for it, by all means, please rent from them. The manager that goes by the name Angela, I will leave her last name out of it, is lazy and inconsiderate of tenants needs. If something breaks, stops working, or starts leaking in your home, you better report it early, because it takes them, on average, about two years to fix it. All they care about is the rent you pay and it pretty much stops there, unless their boss is in town, then they care about the outside appearance of your rental property so it looks like they are doing their jobs well. Personally, I would like to get that mans phone number and give him a piece of my mind. So, please choose something other than Maplewood bend or any other Goldmark property if you can.

I moved to the Kardia building from New York, and at first the apartment seemed great. It was big, had just a few minor flaws, and was very inexpensive. Then a few days later the carpet started to smell like cat urine. Then the smell went away. Then around springtime, the smell came back. The garage leaks like crazy. The a/c doesn't cool the apartment. I had this looked at and they said the a/c was fine. I have to stick a fan in front of the a/c just to get more than one corner of the living room to feel cool. The garbage disposal frequently jams. They just told us to make sure we run it often. The bathroom fan is insanely loud and doesn't move air. They moved a bolt and called it good, but it wasn't. The neighbors' fans are just as bad, because they make our wall and floor vibrate every morning. After these issues not being fixed, we gave up on maintenance. That's about when the cat smell came back. The dishwasher is not the greatest. It doesn't wash or dry well. They replaced our bathroom sink faucet with a water saver that can hardly… See More>

I found the staff to be very friendly, and my apartment was very nice. I had a wood burning fireplace, which nice to have going when studying and writing the long papers you find yourself working on so often. Originally from Stockholm, Sweden, I found the prices of homes/apartments in the Fargo/Moorhead area to be very reasonable. I eventually graduated, and have since moved back to Stockholm; however, if I ever found myself back in Fargo, I would definitely rent from here again.

I have lived here for 3 years and find that it is affordable and spacious. It could use some update to applicances, but overall, it is a good price for a decent place to live.

There are definitely more negatives to this building than positives. First off, the management and stuff sucked. We never got anything fixed in our place no matter how many times we told them. Our dishwasher was broken and NEVER replaced in the 14 months that we lived there, our windows leaked cold air during the winter, the carpet stunk, we had no peep hole on our door, and the door handle looked like it could be pulled right off. We had a crazy neighbor below us that had tourettes, and yeah.. they failed to tell us that upon moving in. Also, when we signed our lease they never told us that when we moved we had to be out of there by noon on the last day of the month before. They told us the DAY WE MOVED OUT, so we had less than 10 hours to move all of our stuff out or else they were going to fine us, they were real jerks about it. The neighborhood is quite scary too. The only thing going for these apartments is there was plenty of parking, and the apartments were decently spacious. That's IT.

Ill make this plain and simple. Negatives: 1. Not the safest place to live. Our apartment was broken into, they stole 2 lap tops, a leather coat and my roomates purse. The scary part of this is that we were in the apartment at the time. We were sleeping with our doors closed and were un-aware of what was taking place in our living room. 2. My friend actually saw a guy who had a gun in the entry way of the apartment as he was coming home from the bar, apparently the man was looking for drugs. Yea... 3. Accross the parking lot, there was a really bad fight where a beer bottle was used to cut someone, I dont know the details but it wasn't pretty. Positves: 1. Parking was fine. 2. Noise was never and issue. 3. Apartments looked nice on the inside. 4. Close location, but still attracts a lot of negative people who dont live there.

I have to disagree with the article I just read about this apartment. I actually lived at Maplewood Bend for 4 years and never experienced any problems with maintenance. They were very quick to respond when I put in a maintenance request, and were good about updating the building. In the 4 years that I lived at my apartment, they replaced or updated several items in my apartment. They completely replaced all balconies in my building, they replaced my fridge, and replaced sections of tne parking lot each year with asphalt. The office staff at Maplewood Bend is also very friendly, and seem to actually care about the residents, which in past apartments that I have lived, was not always the case. Although police officers do patrol the area , I actually felt safer knowing that. I left my car outside every night and not once had a break in; however, my neighbor did have her car broken into and her purse stolen which was laying on her seat wide open. Was I concerned by this? Not really as this was the same night that half of Fargo had break ins to vehicles. … See More>
