Not Bad
Pros: - Affordable: myself and two friends shared a three-bedroom apartment for roughly $250-$300 each. - Location: a five-minute drive gets you to 27th and Superior, a very big shopping area. There's also a library, an Ace Hardware and a Walgreen's within walking distance. - Maintenance: the one time we needed our refrigerator worked on, the maintenance folks were efficient, going so far as to tell us what they did (and how it applied to us). - Heating and air conditioning worked very well. - Clean: no bug issues. - There's a pool. Cons: - Activity: though I never witnessed anything myself, a fellow apartment renter (different apartment) had their vehicle broken into at least once, and I'd heard from them about suspicious activity happening within the apartments as well. - On weekends, available guest parking spaces are nil: the place is almost guaranteed to be completely full (in fact, guests cover several blocks' worth parking on the street). - Hours for guest parking within the apartment's parking lot are not posted. - A guest of mine had their car's driver's-side mirror knocked off twice during regular visits. - Old windows means a potential rise in heating/air conditioning bill (though we as renters were made aware of the complex's plans to install new within a few years). Artificial insulation highly recommended during particularly hot and cold months. - Unless your guest gets one of the few dedicated guest parking spots, overnight guest parking is only achievable if one gets a parking tag from the office, (though you need to do so during office hours...). - Security: front door's locking latch would frequently malfunction, leaving the door completely unlockable. The poor thing was always getting fixed, and it would work for about a week or so before going right back to not really being a lock. Mixed (or at least, not so bad): - Lack of trees means lots of sunlight, though if you like trees this can be an issue. - Neighbors: soundproofing is pretty weak, meaning you'll probably hear kids if some live above you (or next to you), and you'll most certainly hear them outside (though I myself never really minded). Conclusion: if you are adaptable, or at least able to tolerate a few inconveniences, Bridgeport does have a lot to offer, especially in terms of location.Share This Review
