My wife and I lived in Married Student Housing at 33rd and Starr, near East Campus, from 2006-2007. The rent was the best deal in town at the time, and the apartments were clean, well built, and extraordinarily well maintained, including regular bug spraying and other similar small touches. Housing office staff were always kind and responsive. The townhome was rather small and the kitchen was very cramped. We could occasionally hear our neighbors' kids screaming and thumping up and down the stairs. We did not have children of our own at the time and I am certain I would have more sympathy, these days, for that situation. The neighborhood was not the greatest, but we never suffered any crime. We eventually moved out to buy a house -- in some respects, I regret that decision, now. If nothing else, it was the best-managed place I have ever lived, and I have lived in a very wide variety of rental housing over the last twenty years or so. I very strongly recommend Married Student Housing to anyone who's interested in it.
