My husband and I lived in Autumn Grove for the first year of our marriage until we could buy a place of our own. We loved it at first, but the community quickly went downhill.

There is a garbage problem. It's picked up a few times a week, but it still overflows frequently.

We also noticed that management isn't being as "picky" about tenants as they used to be. There used to be strict guidelines as to who could live there. They ran credit checks, checked references, etc. Now it seems that anybody can walk in and get a place. Our building originally had a couple families, a few older single people and a couple elderly couples. By the time we left, it was mainly college roommates and other young adults. They gave out the passwords for the gate (great security, huh?) so they wouldn't have to go to the trouble of buzzing everybody up and frequently left beer bottles on the stairs. Not to mention dragging dripping garbage bags thru the corridors and down the steps so the entire hallway would smell like beer and waste until the next rain finally washed it away.

Parking can be a problem depending on which building you live in. We never had any problems until all the college students moved in. Then it was impossible to find a space nearby unless you got home in the middle of the day.

The apartment building is poorly constructed and has NO insulation. The walls are paper thin and are completely hollow. Heating and cooling bills are high.

Also, we always wondered why we had unexplained black spots appearing out of nowhere....it was mold!! That's so gross, I didn't even think about that and only realized what it was by reading the other posts on here.

We didn't have any problems with the office staff. They were friendly to us, but I can see how others would have problems or consider them snooty. We also thought the maintenance staff was great. They were very friendly and quick to fix anything that went wrong.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend Autumn Grove. It used to be a great place to live, but now it's just an average dirty apartment complex.
