Resident 2016 - 2017

7/26/2017

This is difficult to reconcile. Staff on site has always been courteous, but policies from management company are increasingly hostile to renters. The area has not developed into the nightlife destination I was told it would be. I think there are a lot of well meaning people here but they are held back by the owners and that's unfortunate. The apartments are quiet, partly because it is a much older community. They say it's a "good mix" but really it's mostly older individuals. You can hear everyone in the hallway, but not once they get inside their apartment. The neighborhood is not up and coming or trendy, it is stale and goes to sleep by 10. No decent nightlife in the area. The park events are nice but not enough to justify renting here in my opinion. Apartments themselves are very nice but lack character. Just cookie cutter places that are admittedly well made. Don't have a bad thing to say about the units, but nothing great either. Good security. Now, if you are a retiree looking to buy a condo in a consistently average area then this is a great place. If you are a young professional looking to network or enjoy nights out then I cannot recommend it. Live downtown for the same (or cheaper) price and have more amenities with a more lively area. Example of changing services: After removing the previously outsourced concierge service, Midtown Crossing set prices for services at $40 per hour to encourage people to cancel contracts with the old company and use the new, in-house service. Less than 9 months later the price jumped to $50 per hour and the services offered decreased. Packages can be retrieved from a store which is a block away (rain or shine, or icy winter day), or pay a charge to bring them to your building. This is for renters only, the owners receive much better services. Midtown Crossing is converting more rental units to condo sales, and you may lose your lease if they choose. They are only offering 3 month leases on some units for this reason.
