Shadow Lake Square Apartments
Resident • 2015 - 2017 Not Recommended
Nicely maintained grounds and buildings on the outside. Rent is high and ever increasing. One can hear a man or woman peeing from the other adjoining apartments, exhaust fans running, etc. Cabinets are poorly constructed and average appliance's. Told we had our own water meter. Found out that was a lie. Water is prorated based on occupancy and number of residents in an apartment. I guess that's why water bills are high and more than I paid in a house. Water bills are 2-3 months in arrears so one can't budget. Had a storm a couple months ago. Lost electricity for 4 days and Doppler's did not work. Residents blocked doors open so we could get in and out, giving creatures access as well. Management finally unlocked all doors after 3 days. Emergency lights didn't work either. (Don't they check them?) Residents helped each other greatly, even on how to open a garage door with no electricity for opener. Carpets were filthy, finally shampooed. Hallways not vacuumed on a regular basis nor are the windows cleaned in entry ways. Bathrooms, wood floor and trash in business center need better cleaning. When the residents complain about vacuuming, windows, etc.. we are told rudely that they were. All it would take is for them is to be not so buddy-buddy with cleaner and jump to his defense and actually look at what is being turned in by the Resident. Its a shame when you have a visitor who looked up rates and state "Your are paying more for a house, don't they ever clean this place?" Granite counter tops were to be treated every 6 months. Been almost 2 years since that happened. Had a great maintenance worker who took another job awhile back and appears the other one isn't working here anymore and he was great as well. So, nothing is getting fixed. Old manager was average. New manager, Laura, can't smile, be nice and is so rude to residents. Seems she wants to always be right and argues rather than listen and get the problem fixed. Has ignored significant issues. The new assistant manager seems to be new to apartment management which can be an issue. We and other residents have called Corporate numerous times. Unfortunately non of us ever receive a call back. This is our home which we pay rent for and the services that are to be provided. Perhaps they should listen and take care of their residents and try to keep them and be customer focused and use some interpersonal skills. There are new apartment complexes opening close by with nicer appliances, etc. which opens up choices.
