This is by far the ABSOLUTE WORST RENTING EXPERIENCE I've ever had. Poor management & maintentance staff. Also - "Section 8 Housing". Never wanted to repair anything but would rather dispute problems & place blame on tenant with threat to charge for reapirs.
I moved into Sandy Ridge Apts July 2004 from another state. From day 1 - the A/C did not work & they refused to repair. They told me to get a window unit on my own since they're only required to provide heat. Tried to use heat in October which didn't work either since it was a reverse cycle unot. Had to go to city Inspector & report them to get a new a/c - heating unit which they waited until final day to install. Bathroom know put on backwards & locked in bathroom for several hours. They disputed & told me not to close door. They said there was not a problem with it until they got locked inside themselves & then they repaired. Closet clothes rod bracket broke - refused to repair - said I had too many clothes. While there - they told me I could not have my toaster oven & microwave oven plugged in at the same time. Said I would start a fire & be responsible for damage resulting thereof.
Toilet overflowed on week-end & could not get reach 24 hour maintenance by phone even though he lived on site. Went to his door after calling for 6 hours & he screamed 'Don't ever knock on my F-----g door again!!" Told by by Management I was going to be sued for slander for talking to neighbors about problems & further informed that I was being investigated by the police. Now - for the icing on the cake - they tried to evict me which I FOUGHT & WON in court. Forced to wait 30 days for return of security deposit. I left Sandy Ridge & the State of New Jersey & haved vowed to NEVER step foot in NJ Ever!!!! On a positive note - new carpet was installed prior to moving in & the Mgr told me he did it because he could see us rolling around naked on the it. That was the first clue that I should have never moved in. That was one year of torture that I don't ever want to experience again. If you like drama - by all means - move in. You'll get your money's worth there.
