Resident 2004 - 2006

5/13/2007

For what they charge and the location, it's a decent place. First, it has central air & heat--which is always the best way to go--and the apt. is all electric; no gas. My PSE&G bill was never more than $70/mo. So that wasn't bad in terms of utilities. They also have a laundry room in the basement, which beats a laundromat any day--2 washers & dryers, but don't bother trying on the weekend. Late weeknights were best to try to do laundry. Some cranky/whiney neighbors, but for the most part, people mind their business, which is all you can really ask for. Some kids running through the halls from time to time--but if you're not in your apt. all that much, like I wasn't, it's not a big deal. Parking was a pain--one spot for a 1 bedroom, and it was "assigned" w/ a number, but visitors usually ignored that my spot was assigned, and parked in it anyway, which really stunk in the dead of winter, coming home late, with no where to park your car. It's right off Rt. 35 (St. Georges Ave.), so you hear cars driving by--which can be an issue for some people during the night, but I would drown out the noise with a small fan. Overall, though, I was happy there. It's close to the NJTP, the Parkway, Rts. 1 & 9, shopping, restaurants, etc., and anything you could possibly need is nearby. Also, in that immediate area, traffic wasn't bad, surprisingly. Very convenient. The apts. are kind of old (builts in the 60s or 70s), but not in terrible shape, and definitely a good deal for the rent they charge, considering the location, central air/heat, laundry room, etc. (a 1 bedroom was under $1000 at the time). Best for young, single people who just want a decent place to eat and sleep, who basically work a lot or have an active social life and who are out of the house often. No vermin at all, ever--so it was nice to not never worry about mice or bugs. I never really needed anything fixed, so I can't really comment on the maintenance, but the super lives in the bldg. and is accessible most any time. Also, I felt extremely safe there. Once in a while, you'd see people walking through the parking lot who seemed out of place, but for the most part, it felt very safe, especially on the 2nd or 3rd floors. It's a well-lit, busy area--never desolate or dark. A comfortable little place to live for a year or two.
