After going through a detailed apartment hunt, a specific apartment at Greenview Gardens looked perfect. I filled out an application and a partial security deposit and was approved. When going in to sign the lease, I read everything and started to ask questions just to make sure I understood the terms and was told:
"I don't know why anyone would lease to you, you ask too many questions. Do you think another 9/11 is going to happen?"
Which made me, without hesitation, very upset. I believe, in all quality expectations, that you are supposed to ask questions about the lease. I'm not clear what the 9/11 had to do with my questions, but apparently this made sense in the representative meant.
With the office representatives on staff, it can be gamble on service. If you don't ask any questions, ask for repairs, or otherwise bother them, this is the place for you. They just want someone to sign on the dotted line. If that's what you need, go for it.
Also, don't expect to get that quiet 1 bedroom apartment they show you. They'll rent it to someone else after you submit an application and tell you tough, but they have a 2 bedroom to show you instead. If this is courtesy in New Jersey, I would shudder to see disrespect.
