Ivy Hill Apartments
Resident · 2012 - 2013
I am a student at Seton Hall University. Since I don't have a car, Ivy Hill is extremely close to walk there-maybe 5 minutes. Since SHU offers a Safe Ride til 3am to come back, I feel safe coming back after dark using this. (I have some night classes.) Otherwise, it wasn't recommended to walk alone at night. Rent includes hot water, electricity, gas and trash service. We were told to move in anytime between 9am and 6pm and not on Sundays. In my case as with others that I have heard, I had to pay the entire year upfront because I don't have a rental history (lived at home) and don't have a job (just moved here from a different state.) They do a background check for $50. If you want two people on the lease, they need $50 for each person. You can get internet installed for $30 a month. We haven't had any problems with bugs. We tried out the on-site laundry...it works okay, but only takes quarters. There is another laundromat around the corner if you don't have enough quarters. The bus stop to the airport and to Newark Penn Station are in front of the building. If you do move here, it can be noisy sometimes. Try not to get an apartment next to the emergency exits on our floor. They check the doors everyday and let them slam. Sometimes you can hear your neighbors through the walls. I have heard that they are updating the kitchens. We did not lose power during Superstorm Sandy.
