Lisa Ackerman and Joe Cicchella. Two names to remember if you are to ever even consider (which I advise strongly against) stepping foot onto one of the properties that they have dealings in. Ridge Park Apartments, 172 A Gold Street, North Arlington, NJ 07031, is one such property. Let me reiterate (as I will throughout this) DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES consider placing a single milligram of credence to a single word that comes out of either of their mouths. In point of fact, they have no concept of what they are doing. Ridge Park Apartments, based out of 172 A Gold Street, North Arlington, NJ 07031, is a family run affair which means you as a prospective tenant are wandering into a situation whereby not a single soul has any true clue of what they are doing (I repeat that for a reason). The apartments and the property that they sit upon are about as unkempt as is allowable by state law. In a mad attempt to sway a potential tenant they will make claims that are untrue (to be blunt, they will lie to your face and assume you are too stupid to see the truth staring back at you) and supply promises that they have no intention of keeping. After speaking with the Super Intendant of the property (who has no knowledge and/or ability to truly possess that title again it s an incestuous affair) we were given an application (so far so good) and told to fill out and return it at our convenience (still on track). However, upon completion of the application and thus returning it to, let s call him Joe (see above), everything went off the rails and tumbled into an ugly mess of ineptitude. We were told by Joe that he would submit our application to his boss His Aunt who would be in touch with us within a day or so. Two days passed and no word from Joe or his Aunt, let s call her Lisa . No big deal, they re probably busy folk, you know, running an apartment complex. Truth be told, no. We called Joe who stated he had given our application to Lisa , which he had not. We asked Joe to have Lisa give us a call. Two more days pass. No call. Not from anyone. So, another call to Joe who contacts Lisa who, again, never calls us Catching a pattern? Are these the kind of people you would want to have dealings with? Shower isn t working, don t worry call Joe who apparently can t (nor is he qualified) to fix the problem This is all moot because Joe would never call you back to begin with if you didn t happen to catch him in one of his moments of downtime . He s a busy guy. Doing stuff. I guess. Maybe. Probably not. Eventually we were able to get Lisa on the phone to which we learned that she had not looked at our application (this is a week after submitting) but she had good news: there were eight other people interested in the apartment (by the way we later learned there were three apartments not just the one we were initially led to believe way to communicate with your Nephew, I mean, Super Intendant of your property who shows apartments to potential tenants, oh wait, no he doesn t, just us, we got special treatment, in the dark, with flash lights). We inquired as to why that truly mattered as we were qualified and ready to sign the lease This is where the unprofessionalism hit the proverbial fan: Lisa cited that she hadn t decided who should get the apartment(s) yet, she had to give everyone a fair chance to see the apartment first and then she would decide who she wanted. Okay, fair. I guess, not really. If a person is qualified and prepared to pay then One would assume that the process for signing the lease would commence. Not with these guys. They do things a little different. It s a game to them. Because they lack any sort of social and/or business skills, they go with their gut or something along those lines. Most people would call that discrimination when a prospective tenant is turned away without a single reason given (also consider that they hypothetical prospective tenant was the first out of the lucky group to see the apartment). There are parameters for qualifying as a tenant for any apartment and those parameters are discussed beforehand and often seen in writing before a prospective tenant even considers applying. Lisa even went so far as to say over the phone when I commented on the situation she described, Yeah it s good for me, bad for you. That statement was followed with laughter. I didn t get the joke. I m not cool like that I guess. The end result is we waited another four days to hear back from Lisa , who did not call, we called her and were told we would not be getting the apartment or any of the apartments. I fast-forwarded through a large chunk of the dealings that we ended up having with Lisa and her nephew Joe because at the end of the day those dealings all boil down to the fact that they are clueless. Don t consider this post as the ravings of some upset and scorned individual who is just hell bent on giving Ridge Park Apartments, 172 A Gold Street, North Arlington, NJ 07031, a bad name, because that isn t the case. Not in the least. When all is said and done we wasted nearly three weeks waiting for calls that never came and promises that were never fulfilled and explanations that don t exist within the realm of reason. Lisa Lisa Ackerman (201 891 1951). - Never once called us back until we had boxed her in with calls demanding some kind of communication on the status of where things stood. Joe had told us straight out that we would hear from her within a day from submitting our application. We had after all given her our personal information and were left with silence until we initiated a dialogue to which she acted exacerbated to be involved in. Lisa, you are the Landlord , this is your property , if you are the decider on things, then guess what? You re going to have to learn, and I understand that must be a very difficult concept for you to grasp, to deal with people. You are not on some Throne whereby you can disassociate from standard practice and go rogue on how you waste people s time. This is what occurred. At one point Lisa stated, you ll get a call from me on Monday and you ll definitely get one of the apartments which translated to on Monday, a 10 second garbled voice mail essentially saying, This is Lisa, yeah we are gonna have to give the apartment to someone else, don t call Joe anymore on his cell phone, you re gonna have to find somewhere else. That s almost word for word. Professionalism at its finest. That s sarcasm. Note, Joe s cell phone number. It s on his business card, which sits on his desk beside a plaque that reads, The Boss . I m not kidding. - We asked Lisa a week before that voice mail arrived if we should just start looking elsewhere to which she said no. Nonetheless, we did, because at that point we had begun to understand that Lisa wasn t competent in the least. Thank you Lisa. My question is, if this is the unprofessionalism that is applied to the front end of the business, I fear for those who find themselves a tenant of these folks. - I m still waiting for a call from Lisa citing a reason for why we were denied consideration. It probably has a lot to do with the fact that she most likely never even glanced at our application. That s how they roll. All business like and on top of matters. Joe Joe Chiccella (201 556 8849). - There isn t much to say about Joe except that he made promises that he couldn t fulfill. Because in all honesty, Joe has no capacity to promise anything. Joe went so far as to outright lie to us and say that Lisa had picked up our application to which we found out that Lisa had not picked it up. It s complicated I know. Honesty and keeping track of things like that. You know, applications, with people s personal information on them - These people WILL NOT CALL YOU BACK, EVER unless you owe them money, then I m sure they ll be blowing up your voice mail. This could go on - but I ll stop there. DO NOT look at these properties. DO NOT consider these properties. And they have mice. Read the other reviews. Mice. Seriously.
