Resident 2011 - 2012

8/20/2013

Since Dec 2011 - Lakeview Garden is generally pretty good as far as the "living" portion goes. Fairly safe, neighbors are OK (haven't met anyone shady), staff is usually OK, maintenance take forever to respond unless there's possibility of property damage (THEIR property, they don't really care about yours). My apartment was (fortunately) updated right before I moved in. Cleaned with new cabinets and fridge put in, carpeted and bathroom was re-newed. I'd probably stay here a while longer if I can handle the problems listed below. Like the other reviewers said, there are several problems everyone will face once you start living here. The staff is usually OK if you're looking to move in and have general questions. The property manager (Kevin), however, will FIGHT you back and be nasty with you if you have problems and start complaining. Any requests, they will get back to you when they can. They said they're under a new management, but I don't see any changes in staffing or improvements in quality (except for the increase in price). Parking is one of the problems, too. I'm not sure if they enforce the parking stickers (probably only until 4PM, when the office closes). They have the dumbest rule about parking nose-in, otherwise they'll tow your car. They'll make your friends park toward the farthest space. Until you relize that some other tenant's VISITOR is parked in the space that you USUALLY park. The maintenance guy, Bill, rarely keeps his promise and you're gonna have to call him several times to "remind" him that you're still waiting. You report a problem to the office, they'll ask you to call Bill. You call Bill, he rarely answers. And when he does, he'll tell you to report it to the office first. You tell him that you already did and he'll said he'll come... maybe in a month? The shared entrance (you share it with 1 neighbor) has a broken frame which the tab was ripped off. They FIXED it several times by adding more wood and would not replace it. It'll break again in no time. Had mice problem that I reported to them after coming back from a vacation - they didn't do anything for over a month and now that the mouse was caught on one of MY traps that I placed on my own, they're telling me I never called them. (see the pattern yet?) Yeah, the guy has 200 units that he'll have to deal with, but he, too, will fight you if you start complaining. And you're out of luck if you have problem during the weekends. The pool - yes, you HAVE to pay! And yes, it's open for about 2 months that you'll probably visit once or twice (unless MAYBE if you have kids). And yes, you have to APPLY for a badge to access it. It's fairly large but not a luxurious one. Garbage is garbage. I'm located in the center so garbage containers are on either side of me, at the end of each parking lots, and they are far. There's no recycling in this apartment complex... I asked many times and their answer is STILL a no. They allow cats but NO dogs. They should allow dogs, too, because I want a puppy (and responsible). Ha ha They keep the grounds fairly well. Nothing noteworthy, though. ------------------------------- If you're thinking about moving in here, I'm leaning toward "NOT recommended" side. The main reason is that the apartments are pretty good and that it's tough to find one at this specification at this price range BUT the management can get nastier than the scum in the drain. You'll see people complaining about their apartment - which means that you're gonna face problems no matter where you go, but this one's one of the worst ones you'll meet. Take my advice or just put up with them and see for yourself. LAST EDITED: 08/21/2013
