Resident 2013 - 2014

2/21/2014

The location is great. The super is outstanding; he keeps the apt buildings immaculate 24 hours a day. I hope he is valued by the mgmt. Issues: kitchen has not been remodeled since the 5o's - 60s. Cabinets are collapsing; bottom of the cabinet had to be shored up with pieces of wood. Cannot support dishes or condiment spices. Pros: OUTSTANDIG SUPER!!!!! Building common areas well maintained Short term rentals allowed Location to train Good neighbors Pets permitted Some apts have nice view to courtyard (others by post office and garages and are subject to a lot of noise. All calls to mgmt promptly returned Nice size of apts. Cons: kitchen has not been remodeled since the 5o's - 60s. Cabinets are collapsing; bottom of the cabinet had to be shored up with pieces of wood. Cannot support dishes or condiment spices. No dishwasher - mgmt declined to put one in even though upstairs and next door neighbors have one. Even offered to purchase our own. Request declined. No fan in bathroom - paint peels, but it was cleaned up. Paint job is very cheap and dingy. After two months walls were marked and could not scrub them clean. Mgmt maintenance director rude . Was told there is nothing wrong with 1960s kitchen floor when linoleum was splitting and dirt was being caught in cracks. Our excellent super was however finally given permission to replace - with stick tiles. You do hear neighbors, but I'm sure they hear us too. (All neighbors are considerate about this issue.) If you don't mind the missing updates, apartment is fine. But again, the super is the backbone of the complex. ( Office staff is responsive too) Unfortunately mgmt refuses to invest in updates - and the units, with only a few exceptions, are not on par with other other apt complexes in area with comparable rents.

Thank you so much for your feedback! Greg is a fantastic maintenance technician and you can be assured that he is very much valued by the management team! With regard to the updates, we do have select apartment homes that have been renovated with updated kitchens and bathrooms. The renovations are rather intrusive and for that reason they are completed in unoccupied apartment homes only. If you are interested in transferring into a renovated apartment home, please contact the leasing office and we will be happy to let you know when one becomes available. If your current kitchen is in need of repairs, please contact our office to schedule a service call. We would also be happy to provide you with touchup paint for your walls. Thank you for making Short Hills Village your home! Sincerely, Carley Ciocci Property Manager
