Resident 2014 - 2015

Lobo Village looks really cool, and I mean really cool, when you're getting out of the dorms/want to leave home. You're fully independent, no one to tell you what to do, and you're young so you don't care what the place is actually like whatsoever. Allow me to elaborate. You move in, get a swipe tag for the gate, a key for your place, and a key for the mailbox. Don't ever lose one of these, because though we are all human, American Campus Communities finds it reasonable to charge you large amounts of money to replace them. The real "worst part" of Lobo Village is who you live with. If you can guarantee living with your three best friends from childhood that you practically always lived with then go for it. Otherwise, its dangerous. You'll be placed with three people, who most likely aren't like you whatsoever. For example, you fill out a little thing that you hope to describe yourself with. I like to do homework "sometimes," I party "seldom," and so on and so forth. There's a fairly low chance you'll be placed with three great new friends. I lived with one quiet individual who I never saw, though friendly, and two ultra religious weirdos. Religious weirdos who will want to party sometimes, and bring in their filthy, pathetic pasts, and loser friends. It's an awful dynamic. When I decided to move out, multiple landlords were telling me about how awful they have heard it was. I wish I decided to look around more, and get the dirt on the place. It's great if you are the typical college slob who wants little responsibility, a pool, and a contract that says you can't have booze in your unit...(like they ever check) Also, Lobo Village is located in the worst possible place in history. You can't walk to anything. Tons of basketball and football players live there, and I imagine they just walk to practice. That athlete was me at one point in time, so I won't say athletes are dumb, but I imagine you would want to live somewhere that is fun to live. People constantly talk about the affordability of the place, but $519 plus utilities is a price that could get you into numerous better places. Get on Craigslist, and look for apartments or houses with a $550 cap. You're destined to find a great place. Like everyone else says, the walls are paper thin (so thin it's sad), the staff are young fools, and it's terrible. Really, unless you're "basic" and lack any sense of individualism/adventure, steer clear of Lobo Village. I was stuck for a year (you can't cancel your lease even if you be proven dead) and am beyond ecstatic I could leave. I moved out all in one day. And my best friend roommates all wondered where I was going. Bizarre, you guys didn't care about one single detail in my life. Now you feel all butthurt about my absence? The shuttle (sorry for this rant!) is only on one side of the complex. People on building one and two are right there. Me, over in building 17 had to lace up my hiking boots and begin my morning journey. Whoever planned Lobo Village should be fired. Cheap morons. Everything about Lobo Village is a disappointment. Save, a relatively safe parking lot (though there was a major hit and run a month back, and a car got stolen near building eight), and a decent view of Albuquerque's West side. (every single one looks exactly the same like it's a Nuke Town) The counters are fake material, the floors are fake wood, inside is stuffy, and it's an oddly gross and sterile environment. You can see cockroaches outside (yuck, no I don't like roaches) but you'll never see a single bug inside. Not like I'm inviting them, but can you image the chemicals they spray to keep them out? Weird. DON'T MOVE TO LOBO VILLAGE... Best, "Lucky for Leaving Lobo"
