Resident 2009

9/30/2009

My wife and I moved into a small one bedroom apartment in June. They gave us a great deal for $535.00 a month, and they had said that our utilities would be no more than $70.00 a month. We moved in and immediately had a few problems. A exterminator came by about the third day we lived there, and sprayed everything. I honestly believe that whatever he sprayed began attracting bugs. We had spiders everywhere. We had cockroaches. We had these little ant-roach type bugs. We had silverfish. We had ants. We cleaned constantly, and we were losing the battle. Did I mention the spiders? Spiders everywhere. I mentioned the problem to management, and they said they would send an exterminator the next week. After dealing with this for a week, the exterminator never showed up. We stayed in the apartment for 3 months before breaking the lease and moving, and there was not a single exterminator who ever showed up again. There were spiders on the ceiling when we were moving boxes to the U-Haul. So we get our first months bill, and it wasn't bad. The utilities were about 30 dollars. Unfortunately, they billed us for 5 days. Out utilities were over $120.00 for two people. Our water was outrageous. We never used our dish washer. we took very short showers. We left lights off all day. We never turned our lights on until it was pitch black, and the utilities were still sky high. In addition, our kitchen light never worked. We had holes in the walls they wouldn't fix. You can hear your neighbors (especially if they're above you) like they are in the same room. The grounds aren't kept. We had a sprinkler burst in our garden area and it shot water to the top of the entire complex for a week, and of course everyone in front of the sprinkler had to pay for it. Before we left, the pool was falling into dreadful disprepair. The water was turning green, people were drinking there, being very loud, people who weren't from the complex were swimming there. And worse the laundry rooms where filthy. You wash your clothes and they come out smelling worse than before you washed them. And the tap water smells and taste terrible. And speaking of the laundry room, there are spiders all over the place. They are even in the washers themselves, which leaves dead spiders all over your clothes. This place is a horrible place to live. For what we experienced, our rent should have been about 200 a month. It was absolutely dreadful. The only upside is they had freshbaked cookies in the clubhouse. But if you love insects and spiders and bad smells and noisy neighbors, this is the place for you.
