Resident 2019

6/13/2019

Beware renting here. Honestly if I could leave less than 1 star I absolutely would. It is currently Thursday 6/13. Since we signed our lease on Friday the 7th we have been constantly contacting the leasing office to fix issues that absolutely should have been fixed prior to our move in. During our walk-through on the first day we turned in a 2 page list of issues that were present, from the back screen door being leaned against the wall, to the windows and doors not being sealed properly, to the ceiling fan being broken, to the air conditioning not working in the master bedroom, and so many other problems (please see attached pictures). These issues have led to us having to set our bed up in the living room until we are able to get the air conditioning working in the master (still not done a week later). As a person who has worked in many industries I have always been the kind of individual that tries to solve issues with calmness and professionalism, because we things are solved easier this way. The first time the maintenance people were supposed to come see our apartment, on Tuesday, nobody showed up until at 4 PM. When we called, to Maurice's credit, he immediately reached out to them. When they came, they did not fix anything, and after having us seal all of the other vents throughout the unit which allowed little to know air into the master with the rest of the house becoming extremely hot, had the audacity to tell us "see? You're fine. The A/C is working." Apparently we are not allowed to air condition the rest of the apartment if we want to cool off the bedroom it seems. They told us they would be back the following day, Wednesday, to fix that and the remaining issues. After we gave them permission to enter our apartment without us present, Wednesday came and went, and when we returned home around 3:30 PM they still had not come to fix the issues. It had now been 5 days since we signed the lease where we couldn't actually move in due to our bed being in the living room, us being unable to hang any of our clothes in the closet due to the rack being slanted, and the remaining 2 pages of problems being untouched. We finally became fed up when it took us calling and asking for Toni directly, who is arguably the worst manager I have ever had the displeasure to speak with in any corporation whatsoever. Once our very unpleasant conversation on the phone ended, she dispatched the two maintenance individuals from before and came to the house herself. We were then informed that the A/C had to be fixed by a vendor who would be by the following day, today, Thursday the 13th. The vendors came, and we were informed by the leasing office that they had been by. When we returned home the problem still had not been addressed and we were told that they had to leave offsite to gather some equipment. At 5 PM, we were again fed up with the runaround we were being given, and went to the leasing office, where we were informed that the A/C Vendor would not be by until the following day, and if they were still unable to fix it we would be given a new unit, which is more than fine. When I called Toni to express my frustrations at the constant runaround and to ask when we could meet her the next day to figure out the new unit and sign our new lease she informed me that 4 PM, the only time that would be able to work with my work schedule, which I have been forced to take off repeatedly at this point, would be "cutting it too close," as the maintenance people had set hours. This would be fine if she hadn't completely taken such an incredible attitude with us, as if it was our fault she leased an unfinished apartment. She then had the gall to scold me for taking a tone with her, and HANG UP THE PHONE ON ME when I further expressed my frustrations explaining that this process had been an absolute nightmare thus far. This has all been within the first week of our lease, and I truly do look forward to being scolded by the leasing manager again for her incompetence and being blamed for them leasing us an unfinished unit.
