Resident 2019

12/2/2019

I have been here for just over two months and it has been a horrible experience from the very first day. When I arrived at my newly renovated apartment, it was immediately obvious that it had not been cleaned and after taking a walk around the unit, it looked like the job had either been rushed or just simply not finished, and I found an extensive list of things that still needed to be fixed and tended to. This was after the leasing office had called me to let me know that the apartment was ready for move in earlier than anticipated. Everything was dusty, there were paint drops on the floor, outlet covers were missing, others had been installed upside down rendering the outlets unusable, the patio was full of bird droppings that had obviously been there for weeks, window springs were broken, screens were ill fitting or torn or both, half of the stove burners were not even connected, loose nails were found in almost every room and in the garbage disposal...the list goes on and on. Maintenance was brought in, but the issues were never properly fixed. Jobs were rushed and it was clear that nobody was 100% sure what they were doing. I have spent a ridiculous amount of money out of my own pocket to fix things myself and make the apartment safe and comfortable for me and my animals. I think the thing that bothers me the most is that nobody on staff takes any accountability or responsibility for anything that goes wrong around here. Everyone has an excuse and is so quick to point fingers at someone else. It is like dealing with a bunch of elementary school kids. The complex itself is always littered with trash and dog waste everywhere you turn. I started taking what I call a "trash walk" once a week on my own to pick up litter and dog poop on my own because I got so sick of looking at it. I took one of those "trash walks" today and was so disgusted by the amount of trash and dog poop I had in my trash bag, I decided to take it to the leasing office to show them what one of their residents had picked up. The woman I spoke to was rude from the very moment I poked my head into her office. I asked her who was responsible for picking up trash around the complex and she replied that it was the maintenance team's job. When I showed her the bag of trash and feces I had picked up myself, she brushed it off saying that two people had called in sick today and that they were just coming off of a holiday so it was expected that there would be trash on the ground, overflowing trash cans, and empty dog bag dispensers. I nodded and told her that I collected trash around the complex like this on a weekly basis and asked her how she wanted to explain that to which she raised her voice and dismissed me with a "Happy Holidays. Thank you!" before going back to her computer screen. If I worked at an apartment complex and one of my residents came in with a trash bag full of trash and dog poop that she had just picked up around the complex on her own, I would be mortified. For someone to not be even the slightest bit apologetic, embarrassed, or ashamed of that is just beyond me. There is very clearly a lack of hiring standards and work ethic around here and I am literally counting down the days until our lease is over. I cannot wait to move! I have never lived anywhere and felt this disrespected, undervalued, and dismissed. Not once in the last two months has anyone offered so much as an apology, and I was floored that I was still expected to pay a full month's rent upon move-in after I showed them the list of all that was wrong with the apartment when I arrived. It has been said that customer service is a dead art and nowhere does that ring more true than the Palms at Peccole Ranch. It's a shame, really. This complex could really be a beautiful and welcoming place to live if only the people who worked here cared about something more than just their paychecks.
