Resident ā€¢ 2008 - 2009

The 2 bedroom 1 bath apartments are tiny. They're 620 square feet(yes I measured) and you end up paying at least $700 or so for them. Apartments this small are usually studios or one bedroom units and retail for around $500-$600 in other complexes owned by Conam. Other reviews really hit the mark by describing the siuation here. The worst part is the tenants and management. They rent to anyone and everyone so don't be surprised if your neighbors range from crack heads, to undocumented immigrants and gang members. I eventually moved because of the frustration I had dealing with management and the tenants. Assistant managers keep changing so information and work orders go unfilled for months if they didn't notify the others. I can't say how many times I had to call the office because of work orders that no one supposedly knew about. Since I work nights, I need to sleep during the day. This is impossible at University Park! My neighbors insisted on playing their stereo for the entire building, others played loud music from their cars, kids would play basketball and soccer inside(I lived on the ground floor), it was basically unbearable. Maintenance workers would walk by and wouldn't say a thing. When I complained to the assistant managers they told me that the noise occurred at a "reasonable time of day" and that "its normal" because these are "old buildings." They then suggested that perhaps I have a problem since I can't accept "every day" noise. One time Janet(who left due to personal drama with the manager) said that "yes, maintenance heard the noise" but that "he only really heard it loudly when he approached the stair case" and she suggested that I close my door and buy ear plugs. Teresa, the manager, never did a thing about anything and just went by what the assistant managers said. Management even considered complaints about residents smoking marijuana in front of my windows a "nuisance" and claimed such things don't go on at University Park. My kids couldn't even sleep because of the noise at night and they were scared when cars would speed into the parking lot blasting loud music, or when they saw police lights flashing nearby on a regular basis. When I left, all of these tenants were still living there. Yet I was constantly being told to "move if I don't like it" by management. Its obviously clear what kind of tenants they want!
