Resident 2011 - 2013

4/28/2013

I am FINALLY getting out of this place after 2 years. I would have never signed a second year lease but I ran into issues that prevented me from being able to look for and afford to get into someplace else without being a huge financial burden on me (which, looking back, probably would have been worth it)Visually the grounds are nicely kept and the buildings are newer looking, so it is easy to be convinced to choose it as your home. From the start I had problems with the upstairs neighbor flooding into my apartment, down through the walls which bulged and turned a horrible dingy yellowish color and it smelled musty. Their solution, when maitenance came days later, was to PAINT OVER THE WATER DAMAGE MARKS. What kind of molding must be going on inside their walls if this is a common practice?? My downstairs unit was flooded at least 2 other times when the main line got clogged from other people in my building dumping stuff down the drain that shouldnt have been dumped (oil, grease?). Reading the other reviews I agree completely that the ever-changing office staff is very nice when you meet them to find an apartment and sign a lease, but after that it feels like you arent really worth their time. I would get an annoyed attitude over the phone when calling for general reasons/inquiries; and good luck getting a call back when you leave messages. The gates you have to use to get in/out the property break down often and you find yourself stuck, having to turn around and find one that is working to get through. The lights above the assigned parking awnings were always randomly out and it made it very dark and unsafe feeling to park your car to get out into shadows at night. I woke up thinking I heard someone trying to get into my apartment, maybe 2-3 times over a couple months, but nothing came of it so I shrugged it off as general outside noise. A few weeks later I got the notice alerting us to robberies in the community and for us to be alert; that was unsettling. I saw a security guard on patrol once, maybe twice, but there are always Metro police responding to calls in the property - I knew one of the cops assigned to this area and he would often text me telling me he was on yet another call in my apartments. There was just a notice that the apartments has been purchased by a new company, so maybe things will change, but at this time I would NOT reccommend this complex if it is going to be run like it has been in the past 2 years.
