Resident 2011 - 2013

7/21/2013

This isn't the worst place to live if you need somewhere cheap to stay for a while. I'm a student without much money so I found this place adequate to my needs. I wouldn't recommend living here if you have a large family or need a lot of space, though, because the apartments are very small. While this place wasn't terrible, it's not as great as previous reviews have suggested. I suspect they may be shills because although I did find this place adequate on the whole, there were some problems. The first problem is that the walls are paper-thin. You can hear your neighbors making pretty much any noise. This is a problem not only if you have a noisy neighbors, but even a normal amount of sound can carry and be disruptive. I've never had any problems with safety and wouldn't describe the area as unsafe, however, it can be poorly lit at night. I've never had any serious problems however that still might be something to be aware of. The office staff is generally polite and not too difficult to deal with but they generally don't go above and beyond either. I would say that their service is adequate most of the time. Don't expect them to break or bend rules for you. However they're not going to be a huge pain to deal with either. They're usually pretty friendly. The maintenance usually comes on time and fixes things right the first time. I did have a problem in 2011 where I had to file the same maintenance report 3 times over the course of a week to get someone to look at the problem. However, every other time I've filed a maintenance report I've had someone come promptly, either that day or the next, and fix it right. The laundry facility on-site opens at 8 AM and closes at 9 PM. This can be somewhat inconvenient. However, I understand why they felt the need to do that. It was because of vandalism. Vandalism is something of a problem for this apartment. I do not recommend leaving your property out for long periods of time, as it may get stolen or destroyed. The other thing is that rent can jump up suddenly and unexpectedly. That's my only real problem with this place. However, even when the rent jumps up, it does remain cheaper than a lot of other alternatives. The neighbors are usually pretty friendly and nice with the exception of a few bad apples. All in all, if you are a single person, a student, a retired person, or someone living on their own, you will probably find Home Suites adequate to your needs. It's not the greatest but it's not terrible either, and you have to keep in mind you get what you pay for. All in all, it's not too bad of a place to be. However, if you have a large family or a big dog or otherwise need a lot of space, Home Suites is not the place for you as the apartments are VERY small. Also keep in mind it can be noisy and you will probably hear your neighbors at times.
