Current and Future tenants beware

Current and Future tenants beware My family has resided in Parkchester for over 30 years in a rent stabilized apartment. Well 3 years ago I made a complaint on a similar website about the poor maintenance of elevators and increased Vernon and insects. They in turn decided to retaliate in covert ways to constructively push my family out of our dwelling. In addition to the increased insects they have individuals placing a foul smelling substance in front of our apartment daily. They moved in new tenants above, below and adjacent to me that pound on the walls at random times during the day. My packages and grocery deliveries have been stollen within minutes of drop off. Parkchester security claims they have no video of anyone leaving with the items which leads me to believe it is a neighbor residing in the building, perhaps compensated with a discount on rent to harass my family. The police will not assist with landlord issues which allows them to continue these illegal and harassing tactics. My pipes began rattling 3 weeks ago when I turn on the hot water and on several occasions when I left my apartment I returned to damaged doorknobs, switched… See More>

Melanie at the leasing office is rude and does the bare minimum. Was first offered the worst apartment they had. Emailed the Dept of Ops Carlos and he hasn't mentioned a word to help with my move in issues. Please do not move here. It may be cheap but it's cheap because the staff isn't professional or don't now how to do their jobs. The first apartment that was offered to me was roach infested, leaking AC UNITs, far from my requested location, peeling paint and holes all through the walls. I was this was the only unit before I saw but When I turned down the apartment they magically had another. It's truly insane what they are doing with their new tenants and they definitely leadership change if we want our community to thrive and be successful...

This is by far the worse place that one can live in! They're disgusting, rude, and pass the buck to every other department. They inconvenience you at every turn. I called 311 on them for a leak and now they are harassing me so that their violation can be closed, or course with tape so that it can just happen again at a later date. There are roaches, spiders, you name it, it's there. I'd rather pay extra money somewhere else for better living conditions. Even some of the workers for the building do not live at Parkchester because it trash. Just a few more months, then I'm running out of here to something better. Never been so miserable with the place I lay to rest.

I'M HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED IN MOVING HERE, ITS NOT EVEN A YEAR & I'VE BEEN GOING THROUGH THE FOLLOWING: DOWNSTAIRS NEIGHBOR BLASTING MUSIC ON REPEAT WITH LOUD BASS, OF COURSE PUBLIC SAFETY WAS CALLED FINALLY AFTER 2 -3 MONTHS AFTER ME COMPLAINING TO THEIR SUPPOSEDLY COMMUNITY AFFAIRS OF WHY THEY'RE NOT DOING THE PROPER INVESTIGATION OF WHO IS PLAYING LOUD BASS MUSIC FROM 6AM TO 5AM THE NEXT DAY 7 DAYS A WEEK, I HAVE A 1 BEDROOM THAT I CAN'T ENJOY BECAUSE THIS OLD GUY HAS HIS WHOLE CLUB LOUNGE SPEAKERS HIDDEN IN HIS BEDROOM WHERE IM SUPPOSED TO SLEEP, NOW I SLEEP IN THE LIVING ROOM ON MY COUCH WHICH I SHOULDN'T, SO AFTER ALL THAT THEY FINALLY FOUND OUT IT WAS NEIGHBOR DOWNSTAIRS BLASTING MUSIC. NOTHING HAS CHANGED. THE OTHER ISSUE IS THAT I WAS INFORMED BY PRIOR TENANT WHEN I CAME TO TAKE A LOOK AT APT, WAS TOLD ABOUT UPSTAIRS NEIGHBOR THIS GRANDMOTHER BABYSITS HER 4 GRANDKIDS EVERY WEEKEND. OH BOY, LITERALLY THESE KIDS JUMP NON STOP, SHAKING MY CEILING, SHAKING THE MICROWAVE IN THE KITCHEN THATS INSTALLED ON WALL, THAT NEIGHBOR HAS NO CONTROL OF HER GRANDKIDS, YES THEIR SECURITY WAS CALLED AGAIN SAYING THEY… See More>

Honestly and literally speaking, the picture doesn’t look justice. What’s advertised online is totally different from living in these apartments. There’s constant kitchen and bathroom repair throughout the year. Paint peeling off, tiles collapsing from bathroom wall , kitchen sink clogging and hot water shutdown sometimes.Just to make an appointment, you have to be put on hold for 45mn then after two weeks management will send an inspector to perform a visual inspection and 3 weeks later start repair.

I am the owner of an apartment in Parkchester South. The water leaking started 2 weeks ago from the ceiling and wall in the bathroom. This leaking is much worse now. The water is dripping from the ceiling and wall of bathroom and bedroom, caused the damage of the paint and carpets, have to clean the floor a few time a day. Called management office three times. The inspector said that waiting list for plumber would be a couple of weeks. It just can not tolerate in the hot summer time with foul smell in the apartment. We pay over $700 maintenance fee a month. That is the service we are getting now.

I AM A NEW TENANT SINCE 5/23/21, AND HONESTLY I WISH I WOULD'VE SEEN MORE REVIEWS BEFORE MOVING IN. BEFORE MOVING IN I WAS PROMISED MY MINOR ISSUES WOULD BE FIXED AND OF COURSE THEY WERE NOT. THE MAINTENANCE SUCKS BEYOND BELIEF. OFFICE STAFF RUSHES YOU OFF THE PHONE, TO THEM I SAY FIND A NEW JOB IF YOU DON'T LIKE TO LISTEN TO TENANTS HOME ISSUES. ALSO WHO EVER OWNS THIS PROPERTY I SAY TO YOU, YOU NEED TO USE ALL THE RENT MONEY YOU COLLECT AND HIRE PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY CARE AND FOR HARDER/ BETTER MAINTENANCE WORKERS. SERVICE HOLD TIME ON THE PHONE IS RIDICULOUS, UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNACCEPTABLE. FOR ANY NEW TENANTS I TELL YOU. DO NOT BELIEVE THEM WHEN THEY SAY THEY WILL FIX YOUR ISSUES BEFORE MOVING IN OR WHEN THEY SAY YOU CAN CALL ME AND I WILL GET IT DONE (ALL LIES). THIS IS NOT A PLACE I WOULD'VE MOVED INTO IF I NEW THE REAL UNPROFESSIONALISM IN ALL STAFF IN PARKCHESTER.

Worse place to live ! Ive been dealing with my walls falling apart for more then 5years . It has to do with the outside bricks thats understandable but it doesn't take 3 years to fix the outside walls . Every time it rains walls start to crumble. All they do is fix it and as soon as it rain im back to the same situation. Thats just one of the horrible situation there more then that. Don't let these 5 stars fool you those are people that work there that put those positive reviews. Long story short don't move here its not worth the stress !

Don’t move here - it’s beyond beyond noisy, depending on where your apartment windows are located you will hear everything from 4am to 4am (yes AM) the next day, - every few mins there are emergency and Parkchester sirens occurring at all hours. “Emergency” vehicles that park and turn on different tone sirens then leave after a few mins, it’s maddening imagine this being repeated every few minutes - all day and night. Noises or racket stem from - Parkchester workers (they contribute to the noise pollution), garbage disposal, scaffolding installing and removal, sledgehammer sounds which come from no where, leaf and snow blowers left abandoned by workers as they chit chat before returning, motorcycles that use my block as their own personal motor cross, parkchester workers blocking the road to pick up the mountain of garbage (yes mountains or wall of garbage) and cursing out drivers who are trying to pass and the list goes on. In regards to the “wall of garbage” this blocks the street making it impossible to cross the street and you can only imagine the sanitary concerns especially in the summer. I’ve written to local government officials and parkchester and nothing has changed or… See More>

It used to be pretty good. I am in 1594 Unionport. Since the block across from me got demolished last year I now have problems. MICE!! Funny thing is I don't even have roaches. I'd take roaches over mice any day. It seems I now catch mice almost every other day for almost a month. Also, Parkchester sucks when it comes to repairing anything. Doorbell doesnt work and i have a hole in my wall because they fixed a plumbing leak but seems I always have to schedule repairs. They don't work weekends. I get in from work well after 2am. Is it fair that i have to wake up early to get them to possibly spend all day to fix something they did? I am not on public assistance, etc. I actually have to do things in an average day and I like to get 6+ hours sleep. They are not very good with repairs at all! Only reason I have not moved is because at this rate to go elsewhere is a pain and 1200 is still better than most, even in the BX.

DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT MOVE HERE. I've lived here for over 20 years and watched this place go to hell. The biggest issues has to be the noise and the lack of care from management. I live under a family of 5 who for the pass 3 1/2 years have done nothing but made my family and me's life a living hell. Every morning at 5am they make it their duty to stomp across the floors and fight, waking us up. And the weekends are even worst. And don't even think about calling what they consider security cause all they'll tell you is that you have to call them as soon as you hear something so they can hear it. Problem is it takes them an hour to get to your place. And management does as little as possible to resolve the issue unless you take them to court. They are rude to you no matter what. My neighbors are flithy. They leave trash in the compactor for you to dispose of for them. Not to mention steal your packages from in front your door. Also, management charges for every little thing but does nothing to upkeep the… See More>

I've lived here 8yrs and the part I reside in is so noisy. Whenever there's a security problem, security writes a ticket if there's no carpet when that's not what they came for. The lease renewal is 150$ and rent increasing every year that's crazy.

Parkchester will accept anyone as long as you have a job and proof of income.. So I'm going to give you fine print of things you won't find out until you're already sucked in. 1st if you have a vehicle your asses out. There are NOT enough parking spaces for the amount of residents in the area. You must ALWAYS have your hazard lights on when you are parked in front of your building. Do NOT make the mistake and run upstairs real quick and think Parkchester PD is not downstairs with your car hooked up. Once it's hooked you have to pay on the spot over $100 to get your car back. Keep in mind you are bound to be in this predicament due to the lack of parking that's available. 2nd way back in the days this was a "hood" area. So you will still have noise, the smell of weed people fighting and pissy hallways. The Parkchester area is nice. That has changed. Shopping eating etc. however don't let the water fountain fool you. 3rdly. AIR CONDITIONER!!! Lolol! Their biggest scam yet. They must have something setup with pc Richards cause they will refer you there to… See More>

I have lived in Parkchester for Five years. The broker we were paying rent to informed us the apartment was sold and we had to move out. However, we were not told that until my husband went to pay the rent $1060 for a one bedroom and to renew the lease. He was informed that the new owners want their own tenant, and we should now pay $1300 untl he can find us another aparment. Is this legal? My husband said no! we are going to live out the security. I'm scared I am going to come home and find my things thrown out on the curb as I have seen so many times peoples whole household sitting on the curb in the parking area where they put out the trash.

I have lived here and still live here until this day , only reason is because of the lease once its up im outta here. This has been occuring for years now with multiple people and all my neighbors are going through the same thing as well. I have even caught one playing with his private parts at my window too and same thing they didn't do anything but ask for ID. Also the environment isn't good for little kids or a family. Beware, parkchester was once a decent place for hard working individuals, the working class. I have seen and witnessed its steady decline over the years. Now it has become a community of the entitled, the "I want to live in a nice neighborhood but don't want to work for it" crowd ( section 8, public assistance). It pains me to see what was once a good area turned into what it is now. Parkchester has a lot of potential but nothing will change until managment changes and the trash that has infested this one decent community is kicked out.

NO PARKING -- All the parking is for the employees or Post Office employees. We, the tenants thay pay rent, have long waits waiting for parking in the few free parking zones they have. Parkchester has installed security cameras and security intercoms in all elevators in our building in the South Condominium . . I live on Unionport Road and walk down Archer Street everyday to get to my car in the Archer Garage. It used to be as described below but about 6 months ago they built a manned Security booth at that location and the groups that used to congregate are no longer there. It is brightly lit with floodlights now and security cameras. They also installed a security gate so that cars can no longer enter the circle in front of the garage . . no loitering by cars or people any longer. The maintenance of the building is actually very good . . cleaning is done on a daily basis . . even weekends I've noticed. I would recommend Parkchester.
