I don´t live in the Parkchester apartment complex but I do live 2 blocks from the "North Complex". Living in the neighborhood for the past 3 months and walking thru the complex to go to "Macy´s" and Starbucks" I witnessed the type of people that do live in the complex. Seems to me that many people in the neighborhood consider these buildings for "projects". I was very surprised since I applied to "Parkchester" and they asked for lots of paperwork and do an extensive background check. Fortunately I found an apartment in the area immediately. I´ve heard that many section 8 people have moved into the complex which furthur deteriorates the neighborhood of middle and working class people. Walking thru the complex I feel a sense of insecurity and get stares from people as if I don´t belong I the neighborhood. What surprises me is the number of young kids and "riff raff" standing around doing absolutely nothing but causing noise & trouble and not showing any respect for their neighbors. My first question is "Where are their parents"? As a 30-something Latino professional I feel overall that Parkchester should emphasize on attracting middle class hard working people and should think twice about receiving section 8 families that do not respect their neighborhood.
