As a long-term resident, Sugar Hill has turned out to be a convenient location for me, first when I was working and now as a retiree. And the rent is lower than I might find by moving to another location. It used to be we were in the middle of the countryside, but with many other housing developments having sprung up in the neighborhood, the country feeling is not as strong. But Sugar Hill seems committed to keeping as much open space as possible. Its network of roads provides a safe place to take a daily walk or run. However, having lived in the same apartment for over 20 years, my space is in need of renovation and sprucing up. I feel safe here, even though the new locks on the doors are annoying and, due to weather, one of the exterior doors is rarely shut tight. My fellow residents are mostly friendly, but there is not a strong community feeling in my building. Only a few of us are long-term residents. Many people choose to live in this building because they have pets. I no longer do. Some of the dog owners can be sloppy about picking up after their pets. It seems our sister complex The Glen is better cared for than Sugar Hill. A lot of attention is given to the grounds. The recent exterior renovations were purely cosmetic. I expect it is hard to maintain things in pristine condition as in a rental environment rough wear and tear is perhaps hard to prevent and keep on top of.
