Resident • 2009 - 2011
The manager is wonderful but she does not have the authority to do anything. She is basically a rental agent. All decisions are made at the corporate level. Everything is done as cheaply as possible. The pool has been closed for several days because they have run out of chlorine and haven't decided if they will purchase any more. In other words the pool could be closed for the summer.
The work out room is not heated in the winter nor air conditioned in the summer. It is dirty. The machines are antiquated and missing parts in some instances.
There is a soda machine that is on but there is nothing in it! The hot tub has been filled in with dirt.
Maintenance is a joke. We waited 10 months to have a screen replaced and then they put in an old, dirty screen with pin holes in it that must have been made by someone's cat. A resident requested an expensive repair and the corporate head of maintenance knocked on his door and began screaming at him. The basic attitude is that we are only renters and they will run their complex the way they see fit.
There are new rules made up monthly. You just shudder when you see the monthly note hanging on your door. To enforce these new rules they add fines, none of this is in your lease, they make it up as they go. One resident was called at work and threatened with fines and eviction for violating one of their "rules".
The garbage rooms are gross. There is no ventilation, they are never cleaned and the garbage cans have no lids. The stench is overwhelming. They are easy prey for squirrels and racoons which you stand a good chance of encountering. Our garbage room has a sticky, smelly liquid on the entire floor which has been there for months. In the summer months they are filled with flies and spiders.
The area is becoming more undesirable, many people congregate under the bridge and mattresses and bottles are often strewn all over the area. At least one apartment has been broken into and several bikes have been stolen.
The riverwalk is almost gone, grown over with grass. They have no plans to restore it. Sumac blocks the river view most of the year. They just put in beautiful landscaping in front of the apartments, that seems to coincide with the building of their new apartments down the road on Peebles island. The rest of the complex has nothing and is poorly maintained.
The appliances are original to the buildings, about 14 years old. Many of the air conditioning/heating units have never been serviced. This causes high utility bills. They are putting in new appliances and water heaters as people move out, not much help if you already live here. The laundry room has the original washers and dryers. The dryers have never worked well, the laundry room is often dirty. Rents are very high.
A lot of noise from barking dogs. In winter the snow is yellow and many people do not clean up after their dogs.
