Resident 2011 - 2013

3/10/2013

I lived here in a 1 BR for 2 years and recently left due to moving out of state. From my perspective, here are the pros and cons: Pros: - Location is good (easy access to the highway to get to Albany, Latham) - Standard Cable and Internet included in rent - I loved the pool during the summer. It was always clean and overlooks the Hudson River and is really pretty. - Right next to walk/bike trail and Peebles island - Pet policy is better than most apartments. - Although I lived on the second floor, the walls are concrete and I never heard my neighbors that lived in the apartment behind mine. Also, the way the buildings are set up there are stairs between you and the apartment next to you so there's a barrier from hearing them that way too. - Central air conditioning was great. Cons: - Laundry: Washer/Dryer Hookups are included or you can rent one from management for $60/mo, but I chose to use the laundry facility they had on site. $1 to wash $1 to dry which is cheap, but the dryers tend to break a lot and I ended up going down to the laundromat (1.5m away) to dry my clothes. There is no only 4 washers and dryers for whole complex although I never really had to wait to use them. The only other thing with this is that they don't have a quarter machine so I would have to find time to go to the bank to get quarters, which is kind of annoying for people who work during normal business hour and can't get there on Saturday mornings. - Maintenance: There is 24hr emergency maintenance that I used twice and they responded within 30min each time; however, the regular maintenance staff is not so reliable. You have to keep on them if you really need something to be fixed. Luckily nothing really broke during my 2 years there, which is a pro. - Mail: Outgoing mail must be deposited in the box in the clubhouse, which is only open during normal business hours. Again, this is difficult for people working normal business hours, so I would have to find other means to send out my mailing. - Price: A little expensive for 1 person in their mid-20's just starting out their career. Overall, I was sad to leave this place and really think it's better than most in the area. I would recommend it! :)
