Resident 2013 - 2015

1/19/2016

Compared to other apartments that I lived in around the Albany area, this one was definitely the best. I lived in two different units in the complex. I moved into a one-bedroom that had tall ceilings, was bright and sunny, had large rooms, and more than enough storage. I then moved into a larger two-bedroom unit that opened up. My only reason for moving was the layout. The two bedroom was darker with lower ceilings, and I could no longer fit my dining table, but it had a huge kitchen island that made up for it and the layout met my needs better. Having lived in two different buildings, your experience here is definitely related to which unit you end up in. In the one bedroom, I often heard people coming and going, and sometimes heard my downstairs neighbors. There were no issues with the apartment and I never had to call maintenance once. In the two bedroom, I called maintenance all the time. My furnace broke several times. While they came out to fix it immediately each time, we did get into a small argument over the use of a space heater to keep myself warm in the meantime. In the end, they loaned me another. The insulation in that unit wasn't as great as the first, so the pipes in my kitchen froze a few times in the winter months, leading to even more use of a space heater under the sink. My upstairs neighbors weren't very loud, and I heard them less than I heard my neighbors in the first unit. Other than that, the grounds are nice. Yes, people leave dog droppings around. But I found this to be the case in EVERY dog-friendly apartment building I've lived in. I also found it happened much less here. The grass was cut often and snow removal was prompt. They could do a better job making sure the outside lighting is better. It was dark in some areas, but I still felt safe enough to walk around at night alone. Maintenance was responsive, even to non-emergency situations. I will echo what others have said about the heat/A/C: It is LOUD! Other pros: Close proximity to Albany and Saratoga. The proximity to Peebles Island and other walking paths can't be beat. Supermarkets and other amenities are close. It's a very quiet complex at night. Lots of nature around - I saw lots of critters and birds around (NOT pests, just outdoorsy critters thanks to the rivers). The units are large, with lots of storage. Having an attached garage was essential for me. The in-unit washer/dryer was also a huge bonus. The materials are builders grade, but everything was still in good condition in both of my units. Since I moved out of the area, I actually miss my one-bedroom in some ways. I would definitely consider Waters View again if I ever find myself back in the area!
