Resident 2014 - 2015

12/2/2015

Everyone has an opinion but mine seems to be different than quite a few. I live in the Bryant building which is the newest, most renovated building. I have been there now 2 years and just re-newed my lease for another 2 years. I am from NC and yes it is expensive but everything seems to be expensive here! I initially moved into Parker Towers believing that I would check out the area and move within a year, to a lesser expensive apartment building. I didn't move and I am not going to move. There are many things about Parker Towers that can't be beat! The following are reasons that I am staying (after serious consideration of other options). I have a Papillon (dog) and the place is completely pet friendly; this was essential in locating a residence. There is actually real grass in the center of our 3 buildings and there is also a dog run to let Skippy off the leash, and be a dog with other dogs. I don't have to drive or walk, the dog run is centered between 2 of our buildings. In the basement of my building are 2 nice/adequate laundry rooms and one gym; this is extremely convenient. On the first floor there is a market/café also unbelievably convenient. It is awesome to go downstairs and grab a fresh cup of coffee and a croissant and head out the door for work. Austin Street ends where our apartment buildings begin. If you are not familiar with Austin Street in Forest Hills look it up. There is nothing to be wanted on Austin Street. Restaurants, Gap, Ann Taylor, Radio Shack, Barnes & Noble, drug stores, grocery stores, and more. Austin Street is a huge decision regarding my staying; I can't beat this location with all of the stores on Austin Street. Finally, there is a Police Sub-station at the very end of Austin Street. This station is situated between Austin Street and Parker Towers. I am not a "city girl" and New York scared me. I feel safe everywhere I wander near Parker Towers. I also forgot to mention that there are subway stations within 1.5 blocks of Parker Towers. Now, as far as my apartment goes it is small (I have an Alcove Studio with a balcony) but I have managed to make my home out of this small space. One advantage is that I can clean the entire place in 2 hours! I love my balcony and sit out there every day that is nice. I am not sure as to why a lot of reviewers aren't satisfied with Parker Towers. As far as I can say I am very happy where I am and don't want to be anywhere else
