Please read my previous review (below); this one is an add-on, after receiving remains of security deposit. Here is an exempt:
Redecorating fee: $350
Removing sticky tape on interior doors: $200
Replaced vertical end piece $100
Replaced blinds $200
1.On lease signing, $500 non-refundable fee was taken. They explained: "You are moving in like-new apartment. Next tenant should too... This fee covers expanses, usually needed for that". So, for what additional "redecorating fee was taken"?
2. That's right. Several photos were sticked to the doors using a tape, specially designed for that. Removing them us not difficult. It can't cost $200.
3. "vertical end piece" - It is not clear, what they are speaking about. May be, they mean several plastic strips from vertical balcony door blinds which bind the whole blind and I detached them. Placing them back is a five minutes deal, not a $100!
4. "Replacing blinds" - see above. How these plastic strips can cost $200? And why $100 (3) were taken?
You may think I left a crumbled apartment. No, I did not and I am not a such person. I spent 1.5 days to leave apartment, I really loved, clean, indeed. It was my sixth apartment and I always got back my security deposit. One exception: there was a case when I was charged $50 for cleaning stove. However, $850 - that's too much.
So, be informed, that this management is extremely avid and unscrupulous. Deciding lease signing, just consider what I wrote in my two reviews, Everything there is true.
My first review:
Saddle Rock is not a just a regular even luxury - apartment complex. In addition to pretty nice town-house look, spacious enough and well equipped units, you can feel here something unusual in modern urban life. Space between houses is formed by native Long Island forest so that small native species can survive. I even saw red fox and (once) a deer near hidden pond at garage-storage area. If you install a little bird feeder on your balcony or nearby tree, soon you ll constantly enjoy funny scenes of birds life right across of your windows. Often I could simultaneously count birds of more than five different kinds, including cardinals, blue jays, robins, etc. In early summer Canadian gees grandly walk between homes with their chicks, introducing area to them. Wild birds use pond, I mentioned above, as safe nesting and feeding place.
Jogging along about a mile trail, completely located inside the area, you ll soon find how it changes every day, especially in spring and in autumn. People, who designed Saddle Rock were very clever and gentle The Irene hurricane made a lot of damage, so you won t see many nice trees, white birches - a great pity for me. Still enough beautiful trees remain.
What can I say about complains other people stated? During five years I hadn t a lot of problems. When I had them, they were solved in appropriate terms. Management and technical teams do their job well, as that should be. The pool may be extra noisy by playing children, indeed. But sometimes this adds some fun...
What can be better? I think that during last renovation of gym, machines were placed in wrong order. The sauna is small and week for real lover.
What s tough? Two months deposit . Non-refundable remodeling fee. Termination policy, requiring two-three months advance notice and leaving keys a week prior to termination date. Noise from Rt 27 may be annoying at some places.
As a bottom line, I would say, ask yourself if you feel more comfortable in multi-storey building, in military style perfectly ordered barrack? If you do or, unlike me, you even prefer golf-court artificial landscape over pieces of the natural one, you probably may have lots of other choices. But I like Saddle Rock. That s why moving out because of a new job and some other changes is not very easy to me.
