The Meadows is without question the worst apartment I have ever, ever rented. Ours was infested by both rodents and insects, and it took WEEKS for the landlords to even respond to our requests to check it out. The electrical outlets detach easily from the walls and throw sparks, but we were unable to get them repaired despite multiple requests. The maintenance number was changed and the tenants were not informed.
Our neighbors were pot smoking burnouts- I say this not based on their shabby appearances, but because I could hear the lighter click, water bubbling, and smokers cough through the living room walls, plus it stank of marijuana every time we went out the front door. I can see how for some people in Ithaca that'd be a pro rather than a con, but certainly NOT if you intend to have children living here.
On more than one occasion we were startled by someone knocking on our rear living room window, apparently looking for their "friend". I'm not a small guy and I can defend myself, but I wouldn't feel comfortable suggesting someone live alone here.
The other complaints are minor in comparison: almost zero hot water, windows missing screens, an inch-tall gap in the front AND rear doors which lead to $250 heating bills, a dishwasher which leaked all over the floor, terrible smells coming from the air ducts in the summer, extremely expensive laundry, and a "weight room" which was always locked, which is probably for the best since it looked like a good place to get tetanus.
I read the reviews that rated this place a five before writing my own, and I am certain that they are written by the landlords. Nobody in their right mind would live here by choice, let alone post such a glowing review.
