I have lived in The Meadows for a few years, and it used to be great. Unfortunately this year a company called Conifer bought the complex. They are the least competent landords I have ever had, and I have lived in a ton of places in Ithaca: Fairview, Lansing West, apts. owned by Collegetown Apartments, privately owned places, and the pre-conifer Meadows.
Despite having a stream of people working in the office, no one ever answers the phone. If I do get through to someone, they always tell me that they haven't checked the messages yet because they are 'busy'. For example, multiple times they haven't checked the messages from over the weekend by Tuesday morning.
They insisted on installing new doors and windows in early march. Our electric bill was $100 above the usual because it got so cold during the installation. Something crucial in our apartment broke, and the office promised it would be fixed that day. No one ever came to fix it despite multiple calls. It was finally fixed 3 days later when I found the maintenance guy myself and talked to him about it (in the meantime we had been using the neighbors bathroom!). However, they have had time to be constantly bothering us about things like putting new door hinges on the indoor doors, always with less than 24 hours notice that they are coming in.
I know multiple people who own pets in this complex, and for every single one of us (4 that I know of) they 'accidentally' drew up the new lease saying that no pets are allowed.
The places are fairly nice, but the management is rude, unprofessional, and absolutely the worst I have ever dealt with.
