I moved into the Silver Towers a year ago ... I had just moved to NY, and was excited to be living in the city and when I saw the view from the model apartment I just fell in love. Sweeping views of Midtown Manhattan, downtown and the Hudson. Unfortunately the reason the view was so sweeping is because this building is in the middle of nowhere. It's like living in New Jersey ... you even get to deal with those amazing New Jersey drivers who turn right in front of the building to get onto the Lincoln Tunnel. I've never been to Jersey but after witnessing the caliber of driver's that state has to offer, I wonder if there are traffic law of any kind. Apparently they don't have these outrageous concepts like stop signs and yielding to pedestrians in the Garden State because those drivers will plow right through you to get into that damn' tunnel.
So the area sucks ... lesson learned. The building ain't so great itself ... the management are rude and can't be bothered. The staff is treated poorly and they're constantly changing the doormen, and don't get me started on the maintenance staff.
Plus the building was designed haphazardly. I guess once the market crashed and the building became rentals they started cutting corners. So get ready for the ventilation system ... hopefully you enjoy the smell of your neighbors cigarette smoke and cooking because it breezes into your apartment through every nook and cranny.
Bottom line: rent elsewhere.
