Resident 2009 - 2010

Huge Disappointment

Silver Towers looks very nice and luxurious on the outside but that is all a front they keep up to lure in tenants. The floors are so cheap and crappy that they scratch with the smallest amount of friction. The bathroom looks beautiful, but it is the worst bathroom I have ever lived in in my life. The bathtub doesn't drain and neither does the bathroom sink. The sink starts overflowing whenever I brush my teeth or wash my face. The shower has such low pressure that I had to wash my hair in the faucet. I got so sick an tired of being on my knees washing my hair in the faucet like I am in some third world country or something, absolutely unacceptable. Sure the apartment has a washer/dryer, but the washer doesn't wash well and the dryer takes 3 hours to dry a load of wash. It would be much faster to just take my laundry to a laundromat. The place is so poorly built that anytime it's windy out I can feel the draft in the hallways. I can also hear my neighbors and smell what they are cooking every day. I payed a high price for a studio, and the rent went up if I were to sign again. I have no problem paying that for a building that is worth it, but this one is not. Also, my neighbors are those that pay 400 a month and it clearly shows. They let their children run and scream in the halls every single day for at least 30 minutes at a time. The "lady" of the house roams the halls in her bra and underwear every day. I constantly hear the couple screaming at each other and yelling obscenities most times I go out to get on the elevators. I have no problem with people who deserve some help living here, but they should definitely be screened more carefully. Also, it is almost impossible to get in touch with management or get them to talk to you or return your calls. They are the most unprofessional people I have ever met in my life. Overall, my experience living at Silver Towers has been a complete disappointment. I sublet my place for less money than I was paying (because I couldn't find anyone willing to pay that much for a studio in Hells Kitchen)and paid the difference just to get out of here before my lease was up. I would not recommend this place to anybody but those who get to live here for only 400/month because that is all this place is worth. The only good thing about this place is the very nice and helpful doormen/concierge who are friendly and kind and go out of their way to help the tenants.
