We are still living at Wimbledon as our lease ends in 2 months. I love the building- the location, the doormen are amazing, genuine people and though it's a large building, I tend to run into the same people and it feels like a little community.
However, I do want to warn you about noise, only if you are home during the day. There is drilling that begins right across the street at 7am and lasts usually until 5pm. Though we are on a high floor, the noise is unbearable. The building is undergoing renovations on their rooftop, so the higher floors will experience drilling, hammering etc. It is so incredibly loud that I had to ask if they were remodeling the unit right above us. If you are gone all day, the noise won't be an issue. However, if you have babies or toddlers as I do, stay away until their lovely rooftop is finished. If you or the nanny stay at home during the day, the noise will drive you insane. Also, the construction usually causes elevators to be jammed up and I have often waited 15 minutes for the elevator to pick us up.
I know there are many homeless people in NYC, but the intersection we are located tends to attract many homeless people as there are benches right in front of the building. The building is also next to a pet store/doggy day care which is great since I can drop off my dog easily, but it does make the sidewalks smell strongly of dog pee every single day- esp terrible during the summer.
