Resident 2011

11/23/2011

We've been here almost two months and love it! The buildings each have eight apartments, and each one has a balcony or patio. There are two washers and dryers in each unit on the first floor which is really convenient. Our last rental had only had one for the building and we had to go outside and use a back door to get it so I definitely appreciate this!!! You also get a storage room on the first floor, it's not too big, maybe 5' x 5' or a little bigger but you can stack a lot of stuff in there. There aren't basements, which I don't like, they are on concrete slabs, but there is also concrete between upper/lower apartments which makes it much quieter. We really don't hear neighbors at all which is nice. We got an upper apartment. It has really high sloped ceilings which make it feel more like a house than another apartment. There's carpet throughout except the kitchen and bathroom. There's a few small features that make this place stand out from our last place - a coat closet when you come in, a dishwasher!, over the stove microwave, a linen closet outside the bathroom, and a hall light too. The kitchen is smaller, and there's not as much cabinet space as we'd like, so we have a chopping block between the kitchen and dining room to give us more storage and countertop. We've had two concerns since moving - the screen door was jammed when we got here, and the front door needed to be repaired and repainted. They had maintenance out really quick and took care of it. There always seem to be maintenance workers around -cutting grass, taking care of leaves, cleaning the building hallways - I hope they are this diligent with the snow and ice! They have an annual inspection too, where they replace the heating filter, help cover the air conditioner (units have air!) for winter, and check and replace the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Rent is pretty high in my opinion, but it's worth it to live in such a nice apartment. Minimum income is $28,000 I think. They pay for water and heat. Electricity is really reasonable, our first month was $50, and we have 2 computers, tv, video games, etc. The laundry is $1.25 for washer or dryer cycle, and dryer usually needs two cycles, so $3.75 a load. One thing you should know - it is right by the Bills Stadium, backs up to the field house, so Sundays when there are games traffic is crazy, and you can hear fans and music. We haven't even attempted to leave the apartment during home games. There is a lot of yard space for kids to run around. The only real con of this place is that they don't have a swingset for kids like some complexes do. There is one about a minute or two down the road, but it'd be nice to have one here!
