1600 East Ave is by far my favorite apartment building I've lived in. The office and maintenance staff are extremely responsive and will resolve any issue that day. I started off in a 1 bedroom 1 bath unit and moved into a 2 bed 2 bath with my boyfriend. He wishes he moved here first instead of Waverlywood, because of the area (the heart of Park Ave is a 15 min walk, 490 and 590 are right here), and what your rent includes (heat, electric, pool at 1600 Elmwood, parking, cable). Water is not included, but we pay about $70 every 3 or 4 months. There are also garage spots and storage lockers you can rent as well. The units themselves are quiet. You can hear the occasional door close, but the concrete walls and floors make it less likely to hear your neighbors especially when you're comparing this building to a wood frame or metal framed building. The concrete walls will make it harder to hang pictures, but command strips solve that issue. You'll also hardly ever be cold in your unit during the winter. Most of the time we wear t-shirts and tank tops. You have the choice to leave your AC unit uncovered in the winter (I'd recommend this for the upper floors). In the summer, the AC units are quite effective and the apartment will cool off quickly. The residents here are all pretty respectful and aren't rowdy. I would say we have a wide range in ages, but primarily young professionals and older. If you decide to take a tour here, don't judge the building or units by the hallways. The units themselves are beautiful with their wall to wall windows and open layouts. Make sure to pick the East Ave side! The views and sunlight from that side are stunning. You'll hear the East Ave traffic during the winter when there are no leaves to soften the noise, but it becomes white noise and doesn't keep either of us up. Also, each unit is very slightly different (fixtures, appliances, sometimes layouts), so be sure to see a couple units to make sure you select the one that's best for you. I always recommend 1600 East Ave to anyone looking for an apartment, because of the staff and how cozy I feel here.
