Resident 2009 - 2010

Excellent - I normally do not write reviews!

I saw the previous negative review on here, and couldn't help but respond and defend this complex. I'd checked into other places, such as Vincent Apartments and Clarendon Heights (also complexes in the same area), and ultimately chose this complex, and stay, for a variety of reasons. 1 - Word of Mouth: Not many people had heard of this complex, but those who had, had nothing but nice things to say about it. Namely, it's a quiet complex primarily consisting of graduate students from Syracuse University. 2 - They worked with me as an out of town renter. I was not able to view apartments prior to moving here for school. I sent a friend to look at the place. They were very accommodating to both my friend and me. 3 - They accept cats without an extra monthly fee. 4 - On-site maintenance. 5 - Heat and Hot Water Included. My experience so far: Fantastic! The manager, then Corrine, now Laura, is extremely sweet and nice. Every time I've called for a maintenance issue, my call was promptly returned, or one of the great maintenance guys, Paul or Chico, knocked on my door. I've never had the impression that I was imposing or annoying any of the times I've called. MAINTENANCE: The only time I had a problem with a timely response was when I left a message with their after hours answering service. Because I had previously positive experience with them, I knew something had not been communicated to them. So, I simply stopped by the office one day, and they apologized profusely and scheduled a time to come right over. Also, they do NOT enter the apartment without your consent/knowledge unless it's an emergency (e.g., you've got a leak that's causing damage to your neighbor below you). NEIGHBORS: Not only are the staff and management really nice, so, for the most part, are the residents. Everyone is very friendly, with a greeting or offering of freshly grilled hot dog to celebrate the first nice day of Spring. I've even had assistance moving in new furniture and carrying groceries from my car. APARTMENTS: Decent layout, though the bedrooms face the parking lot, which can get noisy sometimes when people talk loudly outside. However, that doesn't really happen too often. Buildings are dated, walls are thin. HOWEVER, the complex prides itself on its quiet nature and tenants. In other words, noise level is minimal. HEAT AND HOT WATER are included. I did not realize what a savings this is until a friend showed me his winter utility bill. My average electric bill was $30-35/mo. Seriously. LAUNDRY: There is only one washer and dryer, in the basement, per building. This might seem like it could be an issue, but honestly, it has not been. There are only six units in each building, and while there are couples in some units, there are singles in others. Only one time did I run into an issue where the washer/dryer was in use when I went to put a load in. However, within 1/2 an hour, everything was cleared out and I was able to carry on, no issue. PETS: I know dogs are allowed, but I'm not sure about the weight limit. Cats are allowed without extra fees. PARKING: I'd say 98% of the time, I am able to park right in front of my building. Others, I am stuck parking a little bit away because other tenants have visitors park in our designated areas, instead of theirs, which is maybe 5-40 meters away depending on which building you live in. I've only had a problem twice in the time I've been here, but that was quickly addressed and warnings went out that no permitted cars would be towed. I haven't had a problem since.
