Resident 2017

4/11/2017

I was looking for a pet friendly apartment in safe area of Troy and came across this. I was worried a lot because there was very few reviews with negative opinions, but I liked the staffs and the amenities so I decided to move in. It's been about 2 weeks I moved in and I really love this apartment. Still, there are cons too. Let's go first with the cons: 1. Too expensive rent - I think the rent can be like $100 lower. $1,195/mo for 1 bedroom is quite a bit in Troy. 2. Layout of the apartment - Layout could have been better. Bathroom is too big. It might have been better to decrease bethroom size and increase closet and storage area. Still, one bedroom is enough for one person to live. I think I relatively have less amount of clothes as a woman so I could fit all my clothes in the closet but if you are type of girl into fashion, the closet will be pretty small. But bedroom is huge so you can buy another closet, so it might not be a big deal. I think two people will find it a little hard to live in one bedroom with storage areas running out. 3. $200 refurbish fee from security deposit - Lease said that $200 for one bedroom (and $300 for two bedroom) is a must-deductible from security deposit when moving out. I think there was more cons but I cannot remember more. So going with the pros: 1. Walls are thick - I don't know about how thick the floor is because I live on the third floor, but side walls seems to be very thick because I do not hear my neighbors at all. I can hear people talking in their units in hallway, but when I go into my unit, I don't hear anything. Plus windows seem to be pretty thick and sealed too that I didn't even notice when it was pouring last week. I knew it was raining but didn't sound like that much at all. And the whole building is quiet in general, while it is a dog friendly building with about 50 units. 2. Amenities - Theater (need to reserve, can connect your computer/USB), gas grills, conference room, entertainment room with air hockey and pool table, small work out room, kitchen with coffee, and conference room are included in the rent and all are free to use. Might be good to have friends over. 3. Good maintenance - When I ask for something to staff, they make it happen and are very nice. I had very little problem when I first moved in and the maintenance came exactly on the time I requested to be home. I do notice that there are dog poos on the ground, but I think they regularly clean up. One day I had a note on my door to use dog bin and trash bag they provide to keep the grounds clean. 4. Everyone is nice - I think everyone I met so far is really nice. My dog barks a lot and has trauma on big dogs but all dogs I saw were very nice too that they would hang out well with mine. I have not seen any dogs that were out of control and aggressive. 5. Pretty big sized apartment - $1,195 is still expensive, but 831 sqft is pretty good size too. 6. Garage - with $100/mo, you can get assigned garage. 7. Safety - I think the area is pretty safe that it is secluded on the hill. The building is very secure in that all gates are locked so you need to have keyfob or have specific passcode assigned to each unit. They have multiple security cameras too. Parking lot also has pretty good amounts of light so it's not too dark when I walk my dog at night. 8. Pet fee - This might go into cons too but there is only one time pet fee of $500 and no monthly fee but this $500 is non-refundable. So far, so good. I am glad I moved here. It seems like this rental company is small and that it is trying to expand that it already has built one more complex and building another. I don't know what happened to move out 48 hours prior to end of lease but I didn't find that in the lease. The building is non-smoking but there are smoking bins in front of the building so some people do smoke there. I hope they keep up with the quality as it is now or better.
