Resident • 2011 - 2012
At first glance, these apartments seemed decent. I was searching for a place extremely close to campus as I am a student. Having spent one single year in Triad, I can honestly say it was the worst year of my life. STAY AWAY from these apartments at ALL COST.
There were so many issues I'm not even sure where to start. After being shown an apartment we decided to sign the lease. A week later, we moved into an apartment totally different than the one we were shown. This apartments carpets were FILTHY. There were stains and burn marks everywhere, and we were told "not to worry" because they were old and would be replaced after we moved out. How does that help me, the current tenant paying rent? There were also several electrical issues I noticed shortly after moving in, to the point where outlets would spark constantly and were unusable.
The second issue I noticed was the roaches. As a clean freak, I spent many a day on my knees scrubbing kitchen floors, only for multiple roaches to pop out of nowhere and scurry by me. "New ownership" has nothing to do with a roach infestation. Roaches are not aware of who owns the building and will not vacate on their own, but when we asked for anything to be done about it, we were yelled at and told that there were no roaches. I have pictures that prove otherwise. I chalk this up to the other tenants who live less than clean lives. Trust me, you can tell by the smells in the hallways that some people just don't even try. After management denying this roach problem for months, we received a paper that they slipped under the door. It was a notice to empty our ENTIRE kitchen so they could spray for roaches! We could not return to our apartments for up to 4 hours after, then needed to air the entire place out and thoroughly wash anything the spray had come in contact with.
(The notice was dated 5/02/2012, but management will claim they haven't had problems in over 2 years.. Hmm..)
As if that wasn't bad enough, you will have to endure a lack of hot water anytime someone else on your floor is showering, smells from other apartments, loud neighbors, a non existent maintenance staff (or so it seems since it takes WEEKS to get anything fixed) a very abrasive property manager who will scream at you and threaten you, and a less than secure building. Although you are provided with a key fab for entry, the front door that is supposed to be locked is propped open 24/7. I suppose that is how a knife-wielding man ended up almost killing a girl in a laundry room.
After my one year lease was up, I fled as far away from this place as I could. As every single other reviewer says, YOU WILL NOT GET YOUR SECURITY BACK. I left my apartment in immaculate condition, far better and cleaner than it was when I was allowed to move in and was still reamed out. I cut my losses and will never return.
