Resident 2005 - 2006

8/20/2006

When I moved in I asked the management if they accepted section 8 applicants, and was laughed at (as if that was absurd to ask). They acted like the place was clean, and that they evicted anyone who caused problems. Come to find out (just like many other apartment communities) that they used to accept section 8 applicants, and once they are in... They are in. This means that the people that moved in the past can not be forced out, just because they stopped accepting section 8. Don't get me wrong, I think social assistance programs can be beneficial for decent people. What I do have a problem with is feeling like the only person that lives here that actually has a job. Seriously, most of the people that live here waste their days sitting outside drinking and smoking. There is always trash in the parking lot, including broken glass bottles. In fact just the other day some of the "Fast and The Furious" wanna-bees were outside in the parking lot spray painting a car. I think there is a reason that professional body shops do that kind of thing in an enclosed area (so the paint does not get all over other cars). These same kids are always outside working on their cars, which from my understanding is prohibited by management. Of course management would never say anything to them, because they are too busy not doing anything. Complaining about anything has been a waste of time, because they tell you that they are trying to work on the problem, but nothing ever gets done.
I should have known from the day that I moved in that this place was a bad idea. As I was trying to move my items in to my apartment, kids would periodically come by looking in my moving truck. It was obvious that they were just waiting for an opportunity to steal. Luckily, I had enough people that we literally posted someone down by the truck to protect my belongings. There is a tennis court here that I have never been able to use, because the kids are always playing basketball and sitting on the tennis net. It reminds me of the movie “Kids” where no parents are ever around, and they do whatever they want. Again I don’t have a problem with children playing, but there are tons of kids here that run around and do whatever they want because their parents are too lazy to look after them. The fourth of July around here was absolute hell. Kids that looked like they were in elementary school had a complete arsenal of fireworks, which they shot of non-stop for three days and nights straight. I was woken up three nights in a row at around three in the morning, to what sounded like a bomb going off outside of my window. There were also adults that were doing the same thing (setting off loud fireworks), which of course reminded me of the fact that I am the only (or one of the only) adults that must have a job here that requires me to wake up in the mornings. Hope you like to hear extremely loud rap music with deep bass, because you will have option here. I also had the pleasure of meeting a friendly young man who explained to me that he was “fresh out the joint” (which in English means just out of prison).
Hope this information is useful.
