DON'T DO IT. On September 16,2019 my boyfriend and I were approved for a 3 bedroom apartment at Williamsburg of Cincinnati. We were to hold the apartment we would have to put down an deposit of $1,070. On September 17, 2019, we went to put down the hold deposit. We were told we could see the actual apartment we would be living in 2 weeks from September 17th, which would've been October 1st. On October 1st we went up to Williamsburg to view the apartment , leasing agent Flavia Castillo stated they hadn't start working on the apartment yet. I wasn't too worried because our move in date wasn't until October 25th. On October 10th I contacted Williamsburg of Cincinnati again about viewing our apartment. I spoke to Flavia Castillo and she stated the apartment was almost done and they only needed to lay the carpet, that it should be ready by Monday. The same day Flavia sent me a welcome packet and tried to send me a lease to sign via email to send back the following day. On Monday October 14th I called to set up my viewing, I was told by leasing agent Christy, my leasing agent Flavia was out of the country. I told Christy we will no be signing a lease without viewing the actual unit we will be staying In. I also explained to her we are starting to get worried because they were giving us the run around about seeing this place and our move in date is October 25th. Christy then set us up a viewing on October 16th @ 5pm . On October 16th when we arrived at Williamsburg of Cincinnati for our appointment we were waiting for 45 minutes. While waiting residents were coming in the rental office making complaints about mold, leaking furnaces, and their heat not working . This was a big red flag to my boyfriend and I. Christy finally came to greet us, but she then stated they couldn't find the key to apartment so we wouldn't be able to see it, but the apartment was ready for us to move in and the only thing need to be done was the laying of the carpet. I let her know that we are suppose to move in that following Friday and this was our 2nd time trying to view this apartment and every time we come it's a different story. She spoke to her manager Brittany Carpenter, Brittany sent the maintenance man over to the unit to remove lock off the door. The maintenance man came back 20 minutes later saying the key to the unit work. I was puzzled because Christy had just stated she couldn't find the key. Christy finally went to show us the apartment. When we entered the entrance of the apartment it was trash everywhere, it wasn't any lights in the hallway it was pitched black. When we finally reached the apartment door Christy was struggling to open the door. When finally getting in the apartment looking around we start to see a lot of things wrong. Christy told us to take pictures of everything we seen wrong, and that the apartment was unacceptable for anyone to live their . The porch paint was peeling and the blinds were dirty and broke. The kitchen sink drained slow and the disposable didn't work. The hot water heater and furnace were leaking. The hallway bathroom mirror had pieces missing , the knob on the sink was broke off and the counters and bath tub were dirty. The master bedroom bathroom door was hard to shut, the shower was dirty and the shower rod was broke. Also all the window screens in the apartment had holes in them. The living had an air conditioner unit in the window taped with black tape and a box. Williamsburg is suppose to have central air. She also had us try out the heat, which it wasn't blowing out the thermostat was broke. After viewing the apartment we went back to the least office , she gave us a paper with her email on it and told us to email her everything that was wrong and she would let maintenance know what needs to be fixed. My boyfriend and I were very unhappy with the condition of the apartment with our move in being October 25th . On October 17th I called Williamsburg of Cincinnati stating we no longer wanted to go along with the apartment and could we get the holding fee and deposit back. Christy stated she didn't know and I would have to talk Brittany about it bout Brittany was at a court appearance. On October 18th around 9 am I called to speak to Brittany Carpenter, they told me she was out doing work for the apartments . Around noon I gave the a called back they stated she was in a meeting. Around 4 pm I called back, on of the leasing agents stated she was in a meeting. At this point I am frustrated so I explain to the leasing agent that I don't want the apartment. She states to me I can't get a refund of my hold fee and deposit. My boyfriend and I NEVER signed a lease. I feel we should receive our hard earned money back. I feel like we were scammed. I also feel Williamsburg should be inspected they shouldn't be allowed to rent out apartments in the condition they are in. We our highly upset we had to find another place and dish out another deposit within a 7 days of our move out date.
