Resident 2006 - 2008

If it's too good to be true, it usually is!!

I'll start by reviewing the "enclosed patio area" they so highly promote: when we moved in, the weeds were taller than our four-year old child; I was so afraid to go back there for fear that there was something living among the weeds. It took my husband a very long time to clean up something that we feel should've been taken care of prior to moving in. My advice is just to make sure you look at the backyard before you sign your lease. Next, if you like closet space, this is not for you! There is no guest closet in the living room area, which makes it very awkward when you have guests and there is no place to hang their coats. The bathroom sinks have no cabinets underneath and therefore, there is no place to store cleaning supplies, etc. The legs on the sink in the half bathroom has one that is about to fall off, and the sink appears to be leaning. The faucet leaks constantly and we have been told that they have been waiting on a part for over a year. They promised us new carpet upon moving in, and the carpet may have been new to our townhome, but it was definitely taken from another place and reused. There were bleach spots on the carpet and definitely areas that were worn from previous usage. They also advertise new tile on floors, which I definitely did not see in our townhome. That floor was very old and I might add, dirty, when we moved into the property. I think that they could repave the parking lot. There are lots of potholes, and sometimes residents have lots of visitors, so it would be a good thing to maybe assign two spaces to each unit and have designated visitor parking. On the other hand, there are some good selling points to the property, however, I don't know if the good outweigh the negative. The kitchen area is nice, I love the island with the stove. It provides lots of extra counter space, which is great. Cabinet space is pretty tight, but there are lots of drawers and low cabinets that make up for that. The pantry area is a lot smaller than others I've had, and the shelving makes it difficult to fit much on them. There is a ceiling fan in the kitchen and a brick wall, and that adds a really warm touch to the eat-in-kitchen. That was one of my favorite things about Colonial Park. Another positive is that they have a nice metropark next to the property. The landscaping is really nice. They have some beautiful flowers and rosebushes that grow each year, which adds a warm touch to the property. Another good thing is that they permit you to add a storm door to the front of the unit, and we were told that if we purchased one, they would put install it for us. Of course, that only enhances their property, but it's a nice gesture on their part. The laundry room is nice and well-kept. The only thing I would change is that there is no place to get quarters. It would be nice to have a machine or to maybe pay by card, etc. So, that about sums up our experience here at Colonial Park. If you need extra space and storage, you probably want to rent elsewhere. If you love having a park pretty much right in your backyard and a lot of space in the kitchen, you might want to give Colonial Park a try. I hope this review was helpful to you.
