Resident 2011

Terrible place..unless you are of modest means

A crappy apartment complex that is competitively priced. The safety is a joke. There are quite a bit of drug deals that go on in the parking lot which is probably a result of the low socio-economic level of the majority of the tenants. There was also a shooting that occurred between two NON TENANTS in front of the entrance to one of the buildings. The front doors of each complex are open to the public which of course means vagrants and hostiles and police can enter into the "public" space (aka hallways to the units) whenever they want. The door to each unit is very shoddy and the locking mechanisms are a joke..if anyone really wanted to break in, they would have a minimal problem. Also, as a non-smoker, my unit frequently stank of smoke..probably from the shared ventilation. Finally, if you enjoy sleeping in a sauna in the summer, this is the place for you! The A/C unit is conveniently placed in the main room and puts out a moderate blast of dusty/musty air that never makes it even close to your bedroom. And of course living in a place like this means you are surviving on limited means and can't afford the the $100 it would cost to maintain the A/C unit more than 20% of the time to attempt to keep the place at a habitable level. The icing on this crap cake is the higher management. When you try to deal with them they act in a very unprofessional and even condescending manner. As a graduate student who was aware of my rights as a renter, my bluff was frequently called for the various injustices I ran into over my tenure at this complex. It was called because the only way to enforce the management to act reasonably/just I would have had to take them to court. Although my skills of the legal system were honed by my grad school, the time/resources required to tackle a task like that made it not worth the minimal monetary judgment that I would have received. Beyond the competitive pricing, the on site management and maintenance staff are very friendly and accommodating. These two pros, unfortunately, are greatly outweighed by the many, many cons.
