Resident ā€¢ 2001 - 2017

I lived in the Ivy Hills rental community off and on for 17 years and let me say this place has turned into an absolute joke. The workout room looks like its 20 years old with rusty weight machines and an elliptical that squeals so badly its hard to even use it. They just took out the ONLY playground on the property and instead of replacing it, they put in a picnic area that never gets used, but there are a large number of kids that live in the community that now have less space to play. Also, the property manager changed a couple years back from someone who had been there almost since the community was built, and I'm not saying things were perfect before this new manager took over, but they were certainly better. When my husband and I moved into our apartment in 2015 we were very happy at first, and then things quickly went downhill. The people living above us were incredibly loud and anytime I would reach out to the management, they would ignore what I was saying. The second people that lived above us were even louder, and when I reached out to the manager yet again, she basically said she didn't care and then snapped back, which is highly unprofessional, with telling us something we were doing wrong, that wasn't even happening. The noise level never got better until right before we were moving out and it was another new tenant living there. So don't trust where it says the floors are reinforced to cancel out the noise. On top of this, the appliances in the house are old and very outdated. The dishwasher very rarely cleaned our dishes with one wash and this was with us scrubbing the dishes clean before putting them in to wash. The dryer was terrible and I usually had to dry loads multiple times. Our hot water heater was terrible at first and instead of just replacing it, they kept telling us to just turn the heat up until it finally broke and started leaking into our neighbors apartment. These are all things that could be updated or avoided, but instead of just fixing things when they should, they wait until they end up spending more money on it. This community claims that they are luxury, but I don't see any luxury when I look at Ivy Hills. While the units are a very good size, they are overpriced because of all the problems that come along with them. And then when you do move out, they make up things that were wrong with the unit to cost you more money. The management, like I said before, is highly unprofessional and not qualified to be working there. Paperwork of mine was lost and I was accused of breaking things in my unit that were in the same condition as when I moved in, and then if you reach out to the management to say something, she just becomes defensive and gets on this power trip where no one else can be right. All in all, I'm VERY happy to be out of Ivy Hills and if you're looking for something nice, don't move here.
