Resident 2010 - 2011

5/3/2011

I currently live in Preston Gardens in a 1 bedroom apartment. I would recommend these to a young, single person just starting a career, or in college if mom/dad help pay for a place. The grounds are nice and well kept. The mailboxes are pretty close to the apartments. I haven't had much chance to use the pool, but it is nice. The clubhouse it nice, I have rented several movies for free, and MOST of the staff is great. One month, I had my bank account number stolen, and half my account was wiped out. It took the bank 2 weeks to recover/refund the stolen money, and while I was waiting, the management staff let me pay my rent late with no penalties or fees. The apartment was not without flaws...my sliding glass door to my (what they call a blacony, but wasn't even big enough to walk out on) didn't close at the bottom, so I had to buy sealant and cover it in the winter. Even then, the apartment was VERY cold in the winter. The water pressure was okay, at best, and my utilities were OUTRAGEOUS. The place is like 600 sq ft and my electric bill is $100/month. And its because everything is built to ineffeciently. When you move in they will tell you that you can pick up the internet signal from the clubhouse-but I have a unit that is VERY close to the clubhouse, and I cannot. You WILL have to pay for internet. They also make you use a gas provider, that even if you use no gas, will charge you a $10.50/month customer fee. I can also tell when my neighbor MOVES in her apartment. However, I don't hear nose above me, so thats a plus. The maintenance staff is great. I have had a couple things that I needed done here an there, and they always come SAME DAY. I have never had to wait to get my problem fixed. I have a cat, and they are the only place around who did not charge extra for her. No extra deposit and no extra per month. SCORE! I would be living here again, except that my boyfriend and I are moving in together and the 2 bedrooms are way too pricy, and he doesn't like the hustle and bustle of Levis Commons next door. I normally wouldn't write a review, but I am reading reviews for other places in this area, and they are definitely helpful.
