Resident 2015

9/30/2015

Man, how I wish I could give this place a zero. Mostly because of their management. According to my short term lease, from 5/15/2015 to 8/15/2015. The reason that I chose to live in this complex was because I only needed the lease for 3 months, due to my internship which was only 3 months long. At the time I was viewing apartments, the manager of the complex was Meredith LaPorte. In meeting with her and touring the apartments, she informed me that if I decided to move in, I would be signing a 3-month Short Term Lease. She went on to tell me that for the amount of time that I would be there that were not full months, the rent would be prorated. I found this acceptable, signed the lease with my parents and moved in. In this time period that I have been at the Enclave, the management changed. Meredith left the company shortly after I moved in. When the time arrived for me to begin thinking of my move out, I went to the office to ask if there was any procedure I should follow. At this point of time, Beau, the new manager informed me that I did not fill out the "60-day move out written notice" (my entire lease was short term 3-month lease). I was confused, because on the very first page of my lease, it explains when the lease ends, and I informed Meredith upon signing the lease, the day I would be moving out. When I told her, she replied that it was fine, but did not further inform me of anything else I had to do. I was signing a short term lease, and I was not aware that there was a difference between the types of leases. If there was a separate form or other indication for my specific short term lease, that was the responsibility of the management and I should have been informed. Now, I am being pressured by the management to pay for an apartment that I will NOT be occupying until mid-September, though I am moving out August 8th. I never agreed to pay such a fee. Beau also told me that I was given notice for my 60 days in a letter sent by management. He showed me the folder in the office with all of the documents related to my account and showed me the supposed letter. I never received such a notice. When I informed Beau that I did not get the letter, he simply shrugged and replied that "I don't know why it would be in your folder if we didn't send it to you." He offered no other solution to this missing letter and through this, as it is stated on my lease, I was NOT given a written 60-days notice before the expiration of my lease or notice that the rent rate had been changed. I received from the office, the paperwork for move out, explaining my charges from August 1-15th (the end of my lease), then August 15-31st (end of the month), and finally the charges for September. I paid via money order the exact amount for the end of my lease. The next day, I received a call from the office stating that this was unacceptable, they could not accept what they deemed "partial payment" and unless I turned in a check or money order for the full August payment to the rent drop box before August 3rd, my rent would be construed as late and I would have to pay additional fees. This request is in total disagreement with my lease, which, again, ends August 15th. From the moment I signed my lease (3 months), the management had full information of when I would move out. This call for further payment is unnecessary and unacceptable. Besides this, there are kids running through hallways constantly as well as very loud animals. The walls are thin, and I could hear other people's washing machines running. I am GLAD I am gone.
