Resident 2019 - 2020

Buckle your seatbelts, because this is gonna be long. I lived at their Brentwood Pointe property for 11 months, and I have no question that this will be the worst living experience I will ever encounter. There were roaches and ants right of the bat. Maintenance left traps and never came back to check on them. (They didn't work anyway) Not even a full month after we moved in our apartment was flooded with toilet water. The water smelled like urine, and the water flooded the entire bathroom, over half of the carpeted master bedroom, and about a quarter of our hallway. In the bathroom, the water was about an inch deep. We didn't flush anything down, it just started overflowing because all of the pipes in the building are connected. We called maintenance. They ripped up the carpet in the master bedroom and removed the padding in the master bedroom and hallway. They placed high power fans under the carpet to dry it and left the fans for three or four days (The fans ran up our electricity bill, and we were not reimbursed). During this time, the carpet was left torn up and the boards under the floor were left exposed. There were several tacks that were left exposed, and we stepped on them a few times. There was also visible mold on the floorboards. They came and collected the fans, and replaced the padding in the carpet. They never cleaned the carpet or replaced it, they only used the fans to dry it. However, after they had put the carpet back down and left the carpet was still not entirely dry. During this time, our toilet would not flush anything down so we had to drive to a gas station any time we needed to use the restroom. Our bathtub would not drain, and solid waste and material that contained other people's hair was being pushed up out of the drain along with dirty water. The maintenance men confirmed that our plumbing was connected with everyone else's in our building, and waste from other units was coming out of our tub. We were forced to shower at the homes of friends and family. Additionally, our garbage disposal was not in working order and shot water out any time it was turned on. Not even a week later, there was a leak in our hallway ceiling which soaked the hallway carpet. The leak was caused by an issue with our air conditioning. There was mold at the top of our ceiling near the leak, which we cleaned out of concern for our own health. Maintenance came out the following day and fixed the problem temporarily, but the leaks became a recurring issue. We had to use trash cans and towels frequently to keep our carpet from getting moldy. The carpet was never cleaned, and we had to dry it the best we could ourselves. I would say that this happened at least 6 or 7x throughout our time there and maintenance would forget to come. Periodically throughout our time living at Brentwood, our tub would back up with dirty water and waste materials. We would often snake the drain ourselves and thoroughly bleach the bathtub because maintenance never cleaned after they "fixed" an issue. There were literally inches of raw sewage in our bathtub. Our AC stopped working in the early summer and we waited 2 days for it to be fixed. Towards the end of our lease, our toilet leaked into the master bedroom again, about 3 feet into the carpeted area. The sewage water was about an inch deep in the bathroom. We called emergency maintenance at around 9 or 10 in the evening, and they said they would send someone out that night because our toilet was actively leaking and flooding our apartment. After waiting for an hour and a half, we called back and maintenance had "forgotten" about our request, so they said they would come first thing in the morning. They arrived the next day, late afternoon, to fix the leak. Once again, the carpet was left pulled up with mold and tacks exposed underneath for 3 days. The toilet began to leak again two days later (carpet was still not fixed) and water soaked all of the possessions we kept underneath our bathroom sink. They had to be thrown away. The water also flooded the master bedroom again. The water contained solid material and smelled strongly of sewage. Maintenance came out that day and fixed it. They left the fans, which ran up our electricity bill. They also plugged in some equipment, that was used to snake the plumbing of the entire building from the outside of our apartment, into our wall. We were not reimbursed for their electric use. After the padding in the carpet was replaced, the carpet was cleaned this time. During this period of time, we were unable to shower and use our own bathroom. We had to drive to a gas station several times a day in order to use the restroom, and leave once a day to shower at a family member's house. Don't even get me started on the mold we had to put up with the ENTIRE 11 months. We were forced to leave our lease one month early, due to these unsafe conditions. No one wants to break a lease, but it was literally unlivable. Management did not care about any of the issues we had and definitely took advantage of us with some expensive charges, which we were forced to pay because they threatened to take us to court. I wouldn't wish this place on my worst enemy. RUN. As far away as you can. Do NOT sign a lease with these people. In closing, I'd just like to reiterate: literal raw sewage. Ew.
